Cirque du Soleil is located at Downtown Disney West Side. It's
a mixture of acrobatics, dance, juggling, gymnastics & performance
art. Cirque du Soleil have a number of different shows that have
travelled the world, each show is specially created. The show at
Downtown Disney is called 'La Nouba', which originates from the
French phrase "faire la nouba" which means to party, to live it
up.
The
Theme
This creation is an unforgettable journey through this universe
– at once threatening and exhilarating, frightening and familiar.
La Nouba is the story of all stories, the site of all mysteries,
where dreams and nightmares sleep side by side. La Nouba is memory,
individual and universal. It beckons to us, challenges us to uncover
passions we thought we’d lost long ago. Here, anything is possible.
La Nouba contains two types of families or groups and throughout
the ride the magic and fantasy of the colorful Cirques (circus people)
clash with the monochromatic world of the Urbains (urbanites). But
as in fables, it is not so much this contrast as the interplay between
these two groups which sparks our curiosity and feeds our imagination.
From this encounter is born fear and ecstasy. From this encounter
is born La Nouba.
The
Troupe
With an international cast of over 60 performers, the Cirque du
Soleil theatre, located in the heart of Downtown Disney West Side,
welcomes more than 1,650 spectators twice daily, five days a week.
The
Acts
La Nouba transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary, engaging
the imagination from beginning to end with opulent sets, brilliant
choreography, theatrical lighting and provocative music. Featuring
mesmerizing high wire and flying trapeze, stunning acro-gymnastic
performances and other dynamic displays of coordination and strength,
La Nouba promises to surprise, excite and mystify. More on
the acts...

The
Theatre
The 1,671-seat showroom is the first freestanding permanent theatre
ever built for Cirque du Soleil. Set designer Michel Crête of Cirque
du Soleil, Michel Aubé of Scéno Plus, Walt Disney Imagineering and
the architects of the Rockwellgroup collaborated on the overall
design of the theatre. The dynamic white structure was designed
to convey elegance and sensuality with the addition of fabric and
tension reminiscent of a Big Top.
The contrasting black showroom interior transports the audience
to another world as soon as they enter the theatre. The set on the
Elizabethan-style stage is reminiscent of a well-travelled path
or trail. Look up and see the seven cloud-like Fabulous Figures
that decorate the ceiling of the showroom. The musicians perform
on two platforms housed in the 75-foot towers rising on both sides
of the stage. The five elevator lifts rise to a maximum height of
16 feet, the center stage lift is capable of descending 16 feet
below the stage as well. Two telepheriques (or tracks) installed
along the back wall of the stage are capable of moving props, scenery
and acrobatic equipment. The retractable fast track floors, specially
designed by Cirque du Soleil, allow the performers to jump higher
and faster than ever.
Hours
Two performances are held daily at 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. on
Thursday through Monday. The theater is dark Tuesday and Wednesday.
(2003 - dark Sunday and Monday)
The show is 90 minutes with no intermission.

Reviews
"a wonderful experiences for all our party - including a 9 year
old with special needs - inspiring!!"
"my girlfriend and i went to see La Nouba in april 2005 and we
were both in awe of the artists . the show is brilliant and any
one who is going to visit orlando must put this at the top of their
agenda . with out a doubt the best night of our holiday . only
one word to describe it BRILLIANT..."
"November 2004. No words in the show and no words can describe
the sheer brilliance of it.... Worth every cent, penny, sheckle or
icky for the experience." Paul and Jayne
"Fantastic show..........we were lucky to be selected by the
clowns for the pre show entertainment...............buy the DVD
and see all the bits that you never saw on the night."
"Wow! The show was incredible! We had 7 people in our group
from ages 21-70 and everyone was blown away with the production.
The only thing that made me sad was that our 2 sons(ages 4 and 6)
stayed at the kids club at our hotel. They would have loved it!
We are going back to WDW in October and I made sure that La Nouba
was not on break before I made our travel plans. This time our sons
ages 6 and 8 will be with us. Pay the money and don't think a thing
about the price. You will be so glad that you did!" (10/04)
"la nouba will have you at the edge of your seat for the entire
show. you'll want to go back again and again. you will also find
yourself trying to convince others that they must see it to; worth
every penny!" (10/04) nahoum daniel
"Always wanted to see show live, and managed to talk my husband
into going this time. He only went because I wanted to.... but he
enjoyed it just as much as I did! Although we initially thought
the tickets were expensive, after seeing it, we realised it was
worth every single penny. I hope the cast read these messages, and
realise just how much pleasure all their talents and hard work are
appreciated. Thank you." 10/04 LJ UK
"We first saw La Nouba back in Jan 04 was so taken back by
the shear expertise and chorography of the show, that we had to
fly back from England to see it again in Sept 04, and was even more
amazed. It is a show well worth going to see. Sue and Jem. Stevenage
England." (10/04)
"La Nouba is simply one of the greatest spectacles you will
ever see anywhere, on stage, on tv, in the movies, on the internet...even
your DREAMS may not match how absolutely stunning and spectacular
this show is. i first saw it in 2002, and thought it might be a
little strange, but tried to keep an open mind. i didn't need to
though, because the show simply blows you away from the first second
to the last. i recently (04) went to disney again and saw La Nouba
again. the thing i love about disney is how they engage all your
senses, and La Nouba is the ULTIMATE sensory pleaser. i was literally
astonished for DAYS afterwards. the finale is just one of the single
most amazing things i have ever seen, but the entire show is just
unbelievable from start to finish. do yourself a favor, and see
La Nouba!" (8/04)
"La Nouba is worth every penny. You'll want to go back the
very next night and see it again. Bite the bullet, scrape the dough
together and just go." M.M. in Melbourne (7/04)
"Wow!...That's all I have to say. I was very very impressed
by this performance! To tell you the truth, I'm only 14 years old,
and I thought La Nouba was awesome! I probably respected it more
then most the adults there! The first time I went was on 6.17.04
with my dad, and my friend. It was so great we went the very next
day! Actually, we JUST got back! We went to La Nouba on 7.9.04 &
on 7.10.04! I've been four times, and I'm still begging my dad to
take me again! I can proudly say that I'm addicted to La Nouba!
La Nouba is a masterpiece that has come to life!..That's what I
say about it. Honestly, La Nouba rocks!...The show itself lasts
about 2 hrs, but the memories last a life time..." ~*Bethany*

"I saw the show 3/02 with my family and we loved it. I gripped
my seat at one point...the excitement, the intensity! We are going
to Disney again 10/03 and we're going to see the show again. Definitely
worth the money!" TB
"When i watched 'La Nouba' live at Downtown Disney a Year
ago, i was Amazed!!!! I had always wanted to see this show and when
i new they had a special show for disney, i was so very exited.
There are no words to describe this show. It was an a amazing show
and is a must to go and see. I am going back to disney next year
and am planning to go and watch it again, as it was very magical
and amazing to watch."
"This was an incredible show. My parent were in the middle
of a three month long road trip when I flew over and met them in
Orlando. Although I scenced a little scepticism in them at first,
they enjoyed it immensely. In fact they thought it was one of the
funnest things they did during their whole trip, and to be honest,
who could blame them?"
"I saw the show in September 2002 and was mesmerised from
beginning to end - so was my partner and his 2 sons aged 14 and
18 years. I had seen a video before of an earlier production, but
watching La Nouba in person was so much more amazing. I danced for
15 years as a child and I think it really made me appreciate the
sheer effort, sweat and tears that has obviously gone into such
a perfectly timed and performed production."
"I saw La Nouba when I went for the New Year's 2000 celebration.
It was AWESOME! I even got to dance with a few of the cast members
at Manequins later that night. They put on a great show. You will
want to see it again and again and again... I thought it was better
than Allegria which was the first Cirque de Soleil I ever saw. I
definitely reccommend it!"
"It was amazing, im 14 and my dad, mum and brother thought
they would be mored but they had there eyes glued after the first
few momments. Me as well. Defenanatly one for everyone."
"I've just come from Disney this last week. I saw La Nouba
and was almost in tears for the beauty of it all. The show was amazing
and the performers were as well. You must go see it. My only regret
was that I waited until my last night in Disney to see it, for I
surely would have gone back if I could've."
"Any cirque du soliel show is well worth the money, any Disney
vacation would not be complete without a trip to the show, It will
awaken your senses!!"
"I HAVE SEEN THE SHOW THREE TIMES.....NEVER HAVE BEEN SO AMAZED.HAVE
TAKEN FRIENDS AND FAMILY THERE AS WELL.....THERE FACES AND THE LOOK
IN THERE EYES..THE SMILES ON THERE FACES...PRICELESS.THE BEST ENTERTAINMENT
AT THE WORLD."
"I watched this show live in Downtown Disney a month ago ,
by the time we saw it i had seen alot in Disney wold and universal
and many more , but all i can say about this show in particular
is that it took my breath away . I have never seen anything quite
like it before . The show was so creative and magical that i really
don't think any other circus or show will do untill i get to see
it again."
"I saw La Nouba this past July and LOVED it!!...I am almost
18...and I thought it was a GREAT show, well worth the money...Im
a huge disney freak...I am going to do the college program there
next summer....and I know some people who work there....But La Nouba
rocked so much..."
