If you’ve ever pictured yourself in the hot seat on America’s hottest
game show, now is your chance to come close to that dream live and in
person. Who Wants To Be A Millionaire – Play It! features a few twists
– instead of dollars, contestants will be playing for points, winning
prizes for the amount of points earned. In addition, a Philbinesque
host will lend authenticity to the show. Several wannabes went through
Disney’s special Regis Training in order to nail down just the right
voice inflection and dramatic pause when asking, Is that your final
answer?”
The attraction, which opened April 7th, re-creates the set of the ABC
show, including all the dramatic lighting and pine-tingling suspense
music of the original version, but the game features one big difference.
In the Disney version, all 600 members of the audience will have an
opportunity to play along with the contestant in the hot seat on every
question. So the excitement of the hot seat will be in every seat in
the house.
Two of the three lifelines, 50/50 and Ask the Audience, are the same
as on the television show. But instead of phoning a friend, contestants
in the hot seat will phone a stranger from among audience members waiting
in line for the next show. Who ever thought waiting in line could be
so exciting?
The live show runs continuously throughout the day in a 600-seat studio
located in Soundstages 2 and 3 at the Disney-MGM Studios.
Like the television show, the fastest finger determines the first contestant
to sit in the coveted hot seat. All audience members play along by using
individual keypads as their scores are tallied throughout the session.
They also get involved when players use the “ask the audience” lifeline.
Other guests could be called upon for help with the “phone a complete
stranger” lifeline.

Guide to playing Who Wants to be a Millionaire -
Play It!
Each show lasts 25-30 minutes.
Everyone in the audience plays fastest finger first when the show first
starts (unless there's a returning contestant). The fastest person gets
to the hot seat.
Each audience member gets to answer every question in the game, and
the top 10 highest scores are displayed after the fastest finger first
round, and at each milestone (1000, 32000)
The contestant in the hot seat wins one exclusive pin for every question
answered correctly. At 1000 points they receive a baseball cap, and
at 32,000 points they receive a CD-ROM game and polo shirt. The 1,000,000
point winner receives a Disney Cruise Line vacation for four. The winner
and three guests will be flown from a U.S. gateway airport nearest their
home to the Orlando area and embark on a three-night cruise to the Bahamas
and Disney’s private island paradise, Castaway Cay.
If you answer a question incorrectly, you drop to the last milestone
(0, 1000 or 32000), and lose everything you've won since then.
Questions start off with a Disney theme, moving into general trivia
questions the higher you go.
There is a time limit on how long you have to answer each question,
starting at 15 seconds, and increasing as the levels go up.
Contestants in the hot seat have three lifelines, just like the show.
As the audience answers each question as it's asked, if you choose to
'Ask the Audience', the results are immediately available. 'Phone a
Friend' is now 'Phone a Stranger', and if you choose this lifeline,
the phone will ring outside the attraction (by the Fastpass area, or
in the Backstage Pass area).
If time runs out while you're in the hot seat, you will return to the
next show.
Once a hot seat contestant wins, or answers incorrectly, the hot seat
goes to the person in the audience with the highest score.
