An expanding list of wines matches the creativity coming from the kitchen
at Walt Disney World Resort. To create the core wine list of 180 brands,
more than 120 people participated in tastings, sampling about 1,300
wines.
Some highlights:
A consistent winner of awards for its outstanding wine list, Victoria
& Albert's at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa offers some
of the rarest vintages from around the world. The focus is on wine pairings,
to match extraordinary wines with exceptional cuisine, says John Blazon,
who oversees the Grand Floridian's wine program.
It's strictly California at California Grill at Disney's Contemporary
Resort, where manager George Miliotes has gone out of his way to find
the best of the best. He looked for wines in varying price ranges and
asked the vintners to bottle in magnums, to offer several brands of
house wine. The hugely popular house chardonnay, MacRostie, is ranked
by Wine Spectator as one of the best chardonnays at any price. The house
sparkling wine is Roederer Estate, ranked the best "price-value relationship"
of any sparkling wine in California by Wine Spectator. Every wine on
the restaurant's list -- nearly 100 choices -- is served by the glass.
The Hollywood Brown Derby at Disney-MGM Studios specializes
in organic wines from California -- produced without fungicides, pesticides
or chemical fertilizers.
Artist Point at Disney's Wilderness Lodge offers one of the
most extensive collections of Washington state and Oregon wines in Florida.
Spoodles at Disney's BoardWalk is strictly Mediterranean --
wines from France, Spain, Greece and Italy.
Flying Fish at Disney's BoardWalk specializes in champagne,
with 10 varieties and champagne-based cocktails.
Mizner's Lounge at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa stocks
an impressive selection of rare single malts, armagnacs, cognacs and
ports.
