Day 4 – Tuesday
Today’s plans are for a small breakfast in the food court.
We really don’t like it anymore at this point so we don’t
want to eat too much and then Clint and I are heading over to Animal
Kingdom for a little while. Kristen has to hang back at the hotel
for a little while today because she has to call in to work for
a conference call as per her agreement taking this vacation without
giving a lot of time in the request. So, after breakfast Clint and
I head on over for the bus and watch a grandfather playing very
silly following his small granddaughter walk around the bus stop
and try to head off of the curb into the street. I’m sitting
here watching this and thinking ok, the next time I come, I’ll
have a child and I’ll be watching my father do this with my
kids. It was a nice couple of minutes to sit and think of our future
and watch how Disney brings out the best in people and how families
can bond in the atmosphere. I think I got more joy out of watching
them than anything else on the trip this time.
Ok, now that I’ve talked about that, on we go to Animal
Kingdom. It’s looking a little busy in here today but I’ve
learned from my past visit to Animal Kingdom this can be somewhat
deceiving. For some reason, it always looks crowded when people
are waiting on the line through security and stopping to see all
of the animals in the shrubbery right when you walk in. Anyway,
we never got to hit the safari on our last trip well really because
we weren’t all that much excited about AK that time but we
decided that after everyone beating us over the head, we better
do it this time. So..off we trudge to the back for the safari. Long
line today for this one but we figured we weren’t doing much
in AK today so we may as well get on it and deal with it. Very nice
trek through the safari. The driver did a good job with all of the
corny jokes and we got to see some amazing animals on it. I got
some really nice pics where some of them were right up close to
the van.
Back down the hill we go to get over to Dinosaur and it’s
tough to be a bug and we are out of there. We didn’t hit Dinosaur
last time we were there because it was closed down for some reason.
Well, I’m a huge ride person. I will pretty much go on anything
and everything 400 times. I don’t know what came over me but
Dinosaur scared the crap out of me. Ok, so it’s a figure of
speech, I wasn’t literally sitting in a pile of my own stool.
I held on to Clint the entire time and when we got out, we had to
get the picture. It was such a hysterical pic to see me hanging
on to him for dear life when I can usually ride a roller coaster
at 400mph and not have a problem. I think I’m changing as
I’m getting older or something. On the way out, we hit It’s
Tough to be a Bug and watched parents again pulling they’re
kicking and screaming children out of the theatre. People, please
do your research on this one!
Anyway, we got some good mc d’s fries and a burger and head
back to the hotel to get some R & R and off we go to the Hoop
Dee Doo. When we got back to the hotel, we find Kristen slumbering
peacefully on the bed with the lap top on the other side. Ok, I
guess the meeting was over early? She hears us fumbling around and
wakes up and tells us the whole tale of how she called in and no
one else showed up. Got a hold of her boss who told her that it
was cancelled and there was no need for her to call back. This poor
thing stayed back at the room for no reason. But, she seemed ok
with it and looked happy to get a nice nap in.
While Clint’s hanging out watching TV, I walked over to the
Food Court with her to get some food in her stomach. Once back at
the room, we all watched some tv, I called in to make sure my computers
and server were still running at work and found out that they can
survive without me! (there goes my job security) Our ressies aren’t
until the 9:00 show so we decided to head down to Downtown Disney
for a little while to stroll about and then pick up the bus to Magic
Kingdom from there. I don’t know why we didn’t think
to get onto the fort wilderness but from there but I was wearing
my vacation blinders and my thought processes weren’t exactly
running. Catch the bus, hop on the boat (luckily right as everyone
was doing the crowd walk after wishes) and get over to Fort Wilderness.
We were there a little early so we just kind of hung around on the
benches and chatted for a while. Then out comes one of the servers
shouting that the previous show had run about 15 minutes late so
now we are 15 minutes late and they’ll be letting us in 15
minutes later. (did I confuse you there) When we finally get moving
on the line up the porch and towards the door a very tall man a
couple of people in front of us turn with a scowl on his face turn
to his wife and say “I smell onions”. Most people wouldn’t
find this funny but every time I thought of it on the trip, I couldn’t
stop laughing. To me, it was the mark of a very hungry man who doesn’t
like onions and get a whiff of them and not be happy because his
dinner is going to consist of onions.
Anyway…the show was great as usual. We really enjoyed it
once again as well as the food and decide to head down to Pleasure
Island to see what we can at the Adventurer’s Club. I really
enjoy the new system. It was great to walk right onto the island
and not have to stand in a queue of people while the guy with the
flashlight checks IDs and people get stuck with their ticket in
the machines. We got there just in time to see Hoopla and hung in
the main room sipping a Kongalush for a little while. It’s
pretty late now and we are ready for bed since we have an early
morning Ressie at Crystal Palace. I normally wouldn’t talk
about a bus ride home but this just about had to be the best one
I’ve had at Disney. Very nice driver who talked about how
we were going to be on our way and make a stop at this part of the
resort and that part of the resort and then a very funny drunk in
the back, shouts out asking to stop at McDonalds. Well, a very long
conversation later about the drunk asking to go to McDonalds and
the driver telling him how to get there on his own and him asking
again for her to drive him pursued. We laughed the entire time on
the ride home. The Pleasure Island rides back to the resorts never
cease to amaze me. I really do love them.
