SeaWorld to Celebrate Earth Week with Special Events During “One Wild Week”

Just in time for Earth Week, SeaWorld Orlando will host its annual “One Wild Week” April 23 - 29. During the event, children who present a completed coloring page advertisement (from The Orlando Sentinel April 20 issue) will receive free admission. For eligibility, a full-paying adult must accompany the child.

This weeklong commitment to wildlife preservation is held in conjunction with the National Wildlife Federation’s “Keep the Wild Alive” endangered species campaign. As part of SeaWorld’s “One Wild Week,” guests can participate in a park-wide scavenger hunt and attempt to stump an on-site wildlife expert for a prize.

Shamu TV Wins Telly Award

And the winner is … SeaWorld.

For the second consecutive year, SeaWorld received a Telly Award for the park’s “Shamu TV” program. This year’s award honored the episode On the Brink of Extinct. Shot on-location in Hawaii, the 30-minute television program featured endangered species such as nene geese and Hawaiian monk seals. The episode focused on the negative effects of non-native plants and animals on these indigenous species.

Shamu TV is broadcast via satellite to classrooms in all 50 states and Canada, and reaches an audience of approximately 30 million viewers.

The highly sought-after Telly Awards recognize outstanding non-network and cable commercials, films and video productions.

Florida Fun Card Deadline Approaches

Florida residents have a few weeks left to take advantage of one of the best resident deals in theme park history - the popular Florida Fun Card. Through April 6, 2001, Florida residents who purchase a full-price, single-day admission to either SeaWorld Orlando or Busch Gardens Tampa Bay can enjoy unlimited visits to that park until the end of 2001.

The Florida 2001 Fun Card is available to residents with valid Florida identification. Fun Cards are valid only at the park where purchased for unlimited visits to either SeaWorld Orlando or Busch Gardens Tampa Bay during normal operating hours through Dec. 24, 2001. The Fun Card is non-transferable and requires a photo ID be taken on the purchaser’s first visit to the park.

The Florida 2001 Fun Card is available at each park’s front gate, and at participating Florida AAA and The Huntington Bank locations. The cost is $47.95 plus tax for adults and $38.95 plus tax for children ages 3-9.

For more information about the Florida 2001 Fun Card offer, call 1-866-FLFUNCARD (1-866-353-8622).
