SeaWorld to Celebrate Earth Week with Special Events During “One
Wild Week”
Just in time for Earth Week, SeaWorld Orlando will host its annual
“One Wild Week” April 23 - 29. During the event, children who present
a completed coloring page advertisement (from The Orlando Sentinel April
20 issue) will receive free admission. For eligibility, a full-paying
adult must accompany the child.
This weeklong commitment to wildlife preservation is held in conjunction
with the National Wildlife Federation’s “Keep the Wild Alive” endangered
species campaign. As part of SeaWorld’s “One Wild Week,” guests can
participate in a park-wide scavenger hunt and attempt to stump an on-site
wildlife expert for a prize.
Shamu TV Wins Telly Award
And the winner is … SeaWorld.
For the second consecutive year, SeaWorld received a Telly Award for
the park’s “Shamu TV” program. This year’s award honored the episode
On the Brink of Extinct. Shot on-location in Hawaii, the 30-minute television
program featured endangered species such as nene geese and Hawaiian
monk seals. The episode focused on the negative effects of non-native
plants and animals on these indigenous species.
Shamu TV is broadcast via satellite to classrooms in all 50 states
and Canada, and reaches an audience of approximately 30 million viewers.
The highly sought-after Telly Awards recognize outstanding non-network
and cable commercials, films and video productions.
