Some of the best surfers in the world have benefited from Craig Carroll's mentoring. But no experience is necessary to give surfing a try when Carroll's Cocoa Beach Surf School comes to Disney's Typhoon Lagoon water park bright and early on Tuesday mornings.

Adventurous guests can catch a wave and feel like they're sitting on top of the world as the 2.75-million-gallon wave pool provides consistent waves every 90 seconds that can range from three to six feet high -- and no sharks! Guests learn from professional surfers how to cut, carve, and "hang 10."

The clinic is available for a charge on Tuesday mornings from 6:30-9 a.m. (prior to regular park hours). Equipment is provided.

Carroll estimates that 70 percent of the folks who sign up for the program have never surfed -- and that 90 percent are riding waves before the session is finished.

The classes are small, up to 14 guests, with two instructors. The program lasts 2 ½ hours, which consists of ½ hour land-side instruction & two hours of water instruction.

Guests must be at least 8 years old to participate. Guests must sign a waiver to participate.

Transportation from the resort to the class is not available this early in the morning and must be arranged by the participants.

Cost - $125 per guest (inc tax).
