** Shades of Green closes April 1, 2002 for the construction of new rooms, and is due to reopen August, 2003. Guests who have reservations during that period will be relocated to the Contemporary Resort (North Garden Wing). The room rates charged will be the same as for Shades of Green, but with the addition of 11% tax. The ticket desk from Shades of Green will also be relocated to the Contemporary, although the shops won't. **

Shades of Green was originally called the Disney Inn, but in 1994, the Department of Defense leased the resort. Now, only active and retired military personnel and their families can stay there. It is located between two golf courses near the Magic Kingdom. Guests here get the same priveleges as those in other WDW resorts, and others, including discounted WDW passes, discounted tickets for other Orlando attractions, & discounted Disney merchandise.

 

Rooms

The 288 guest rooms are 455 sq.ft. Rooms have two queen-size beds, a daybed, table & chairs, armoire, sofa, VCR & TV. They are decorated in an English countryside theme with soft colours and light-oak furniture.

Views - pool view, golf course view.

Garden Gallery - breakfast and dinner buffet. A la carte menu available. Breakfast 7-11am; dinner 5-9pm.

Room service available for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

There are two schedules. The first runs to the TTC, where guests can transfer to the parks & Downtown Disney. The other runs direct to Animal Kingdom, MGM and Blizzard Beach.
