"We arrived at the Shades of Green and I was amazed I could not wait to go up to my room. We got to the room and it was huge (480 square feet) We had a great view of the Mickey Mouse Pool. I loved the room it was spacious, big bathroom, double sink, nice closet, it was also very clean and felt like home.
The resort had a very nice restraunt with a buffet that we ate breakfast at every morning. It was a great restraunt and had awsome food.
Overall the resort was great. It is catagorized as a Disney Deluxe Resort. If I were to give this resort a rating out of 10 being the best it would be a 10. I loved this resort. I believe it is a 4 star resort. The pools are awsome." (12/01) Jack

"I visited the Shades of Green From 1-1-01 till 1-5-01. I have only stayed in one other Disney hotel the Wilderness Lodge. Unfortunately I noticed a difference.
SOG is laid out much the same as Wilderness lodge with a Y shape. The Mickey shaped pool and a wading pool is in the U part there is a square pool near the left hand front of the building that also have a hot tub near it. The Rooms are Much more spacious than the WL The room size is a nice perk. The Tv has an internet option on it i did not use this service. Be warned the Tv only has coax on it no RCA jacks to view Videos or pictures (bring a converter). The beds are Queens size and there is a sleeper sofa . The bathroom has two sinks. The room has a safe, and Iron/ iron board, a coffee machine with coffee supplies refilled everyday, and a hairdryer. Room Service was great and fast. Pizza can be ordered but no delivery you have to go down to the bar to get it both are easily billed to the room. The full service restaurant is nice. It is not themed but it is inexpensive! There is a cart outside where the buses come that has lots of snacks , drinks, ect. The lady there is a peach :) The 2 buses : One to the TTC and one to the Animal Kingdom/Blizzard beach. It was pretty annoying going to the TTC every time but at least it only a 4-7 min ride. the lobby is small and there is a shop right there at the lobby.
What I did not like.... I missed the Disney feeling / themeing. Don't get me wrong the Cast members at SOG treat you as nice as any Disney CM; However this resort has no theme. It is kind of regular Joe. I missed the Disney channels (closed circuit or not). I missed the Disney soap and lotion. I missed the Mickey mouse wake up call. There is no Valet parking.
I highly recommend this resort mostly for the price per location and size of room. Do not expect 100% pixie dust as at the WL more like 70%.....from the room balcony I could hear the howling form the haunted mansion, and the train both at the Magic kingdom and the room was in the back farthest away from the park."
