"This resort
is totally the best way to go in the moderate hotel catagory! The
pool area is awesome. The serpent slide alone kept my son happy
for hours!!! We are going again this year and the pool is all he's
been talking about! The food court is a bit boring but it's fine
for something quick. I loved this resort and would recommend it
to anyone who wants the most bang for their buck!" (5/01) sheila
"We stayed
in Building 5 of PO French Quarter. The rooms were very clean and
conveniently located (next to the food court and pool). I stayed
at the All-Star Music resort in 1997, and the French Quarter resort
is much nicer. I am from an area about 90 miles from New Orleans,
and I think they did a great job of re-creating the scenery. In
fact, it is MUCH nicer than the actual French Quarter. We ate at
the food court several times during our stay, and I thought the
food was good. It basically offers the same types of foods found
throughout Disney at the same prices. But they did offer a few unique
items here such as beignets and jambalaya. The food is not quite
the same as in New Orleans, but the beignets were very good. The
buses tend to get crowded because you share the bus with PO Riverside.
But the bus stops at the French Quarter first, so you can always
get a seat on the way to the parks. On the way back, chances are
that you will be standing because of the larger crowds. But at least
the French Quarter stop is first. I enjoyed getting up early and
taking a walk along the river to Riverside and back. There were
several other people who had the same idea as I did. It was very
quiet and relaxing. Overall, I would definitely recommend this resort.
The resort is small, so nothing is very far away. The pool is one
of the best of any of the resorts (my kids loved the slide)."

"I have stayed
at this resort 3 times and have been completely satisfied each time.
This last time we were located on the main level with connecting
rooms. We were also lucky to receive a corner room which had two
windows which made it appear much larger. The room was very nice
but the mattresses leave something to be desired. I'd say there
are no worse than any of the other moderate resorts. I guess I just
figured they would have gotten new mattresses while it was closed
for refurbishment. The buildings are just adroable and the little
brick walkways are so cute. There is no sitdown restaurant at this
resort but if you really want one you could just take a bus over
to Port Orleans Riverside. They have the essential counter service
restaurants and the sitting area is decorated in a mardi gras theme.
It is a lovely resort with beautiful courtyards and boat access
to Downtown Disney. It is much smaller than the other moderate resorts
so that can give a more secluded feeling. A downside is the transportation
issue. French Quarter has its own bus for Magic Kingdom but all
you have to share the bus with Riverside for all other parks. Usually
its not a problem because when going to the parks the bus stops
at the French Quarter first, but at the end of a long night at the
parks you have a better chance of standing on the bus for the ride
home. Overall, I totally reccomend staying at Disney's Port Orleans
French Quarter." (7/02) Kristin
"It was very
clean and comfortable. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The
resort had just been newly remodeled and had opened on May 31, 2002.
So, we were on of the first guests. When we visit Disney, I would
like to stay there again. We had a room in the building on the left
of the pool. The food at this resort was limited. There was pizza
and sandwiches after a day at the park. It is our advice to have
your meals with the characters. The price is not that much more
and you get individual attention with Disney's beloved characters.
We particularly liked having breakfast at Chef Mickey's and it is
located at the Contempory Resort. We were very pleased with the
Resort as a whole. It was very conveniently located." (6/02)

"We just got
back from a vacation to WDW and we stayed in both the Port Orleans
French Quarter and the Port Orleans Riverside resorts. I cannot
recommend that anyone ever stay at either of these resorts for several
reasons. First, the housekeeping service is hideous at both resorts.
On Monday morning we called for extra pillows, towels, and shampoo.
We indicated that we were leaving the hotel right then and that
it wasn't necessary for the housekeeping staff to make a special
trip to the room. We would be happy if they could just make a note
to bring these items around when they serviced the room for the
day. We were assured that this would be done. As a little "thank
you", we left a note of thanks in the room (which once again listed
the items we had requested) and we attached a nice tip for their
trouble. When we arrived back in the room for the night, we found
that the note and tip were gone, but the pillows, towels, and shampoo
had not been provided. We called and notified the front desk and
they apologized and said these items would be there immediately.
It was over a half hour before they arrived. The housekeeping service
only got worse over the next few days. Another reason I cannot recommend
the French Quarter resort was that we had to change hotels at 1:00
AM in the morning because when we arrived at our room in the French
Quarter at 11:57 on 06-04-02, we found our hotel room door had been
opened and blocked open with the door latch. The door was completely
left open and anyone could have just walked in and stolen all of
our luggage, clothing, laptop, souvenirs, etc. We were horrified.
The lights were on and the shades open so that people in the parking
lot could see in. We promptly called the resort management who did
not seem very upset by this occurrence. When we asked them what
they could do to make us feel safe in their resort since apparrently
their security is pitiful, they indicated that there was really
nothing more they could do and said if we didn't feel safe that
we could just leave. This was not what we wanted to hear after such
a scary and potentially dangerous experience. We indicated that
we would like to be moved to a different room that was away from
the parking lot. We felt this might be safer since it would be more
difficult for someone to carry off our belongings if the door was
left open again. The management agreed to this and moved us to another
room in the French Quarter. This room was far below my definittion
of sub-standard. First, the carpet was wet in a 4-foot circle around
the bathroom door and the bathroom floor was wet due to some sort
of plumbing problem. The room reeked of mildew and the fan made
a very loud thumping noise and shuddered wildly when turned on.
One of the light fixtures over the bed had an electrical problem
that caused the bulb to arc a blue light every once in a while and
there was a roach on the drapes. We were disgusted with this room
and called management again. It took almost an hour for the night
manager to get back in touch with us and when they finally did we
were told they would move us to the Port Orleans Riverside resort.
After another hour- long move, we finally got into our new room
around 2:30 AM. We had to meet friends the next morning at 8:15
outside of Epcot, so by the time we got the suitcases unloaded again,
we didn't get to bed until 4:00 AM. Needless to say, this ruined
our only day to be in Epcot because we were exhausted all day. The
next few days spent in Riverside were not much of an improvement
from the Port Orleans due to horrible housekeeping service. One
night we called for extra towels and after an hour and a half, we
finally put the "do not disturb" sign on the door and went to sleep
without taking showers which felt disgusting after sweating in the
June heat all day. No matter to whom we complained, we could never
get management to control their housekeeping staff and give us even
minimally decent service. By the time we left, we vowed that we
would never stay at the Port Orleans French Quarter or Riverside
ever again due to poor security, seemingly unconcerned management,
and horrid housekeeping service." (6/02) Denise Thompson
"We stayed
in Building #4 of the French Quarter and absolutely loved it. We
stayed at the Caribbean Beach in 2001 and did not like it nearly
as much. We kept comparing the two, wishing we would have booked
at the French Quarter. The beignets are to die for!!!! I loved the
atmosphere and I loved that is was not too big. I would definitely
recommend this to anybody. In fact, we are going with my cousin
this year (10/14 - 10/21) and convinced them to stay there. We would
excep t we have decided to splurge and try the Animal Kingdom Lodge!!"

"My husband
and I have been going to Walt Disney World since our honeymoon in
1989. We always stayed off propoerty until we had our son. We began
taking our son to Disney in 1997 when he was two years old and began
staying on property. We have stayed at all of the moderate resorts
(Dixie Landinds -now called Port Orleans Riverside, Corando Springs,
Port Orleans - French Quarter (statyed here twice) and Carribean
Beach). Of the moderate resorts Port Orleans French Quarter is m
y favorite because of it is the smallest resort, not alot of walking
to get form the rooms to the pool or to the food court. I love the
decor and the pool is great for kids. I would recommend any of the
four moderate resorts, I have been nothing but pleased with all
of them. We go every year and this year we are going to try the
Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort, which Disney does not own but
it is on their property in a great location and appears to have
all the same advantages as the other r esorts. We have had a water
view room and a room upstairs with a courtyard view, which of both
I was pleased. The rooms have always been very clean and comfortable.
I also enjoy the food court and the jazz artist that is in the bar
in the evenings is great. I was diappointed that the sit down resaurant
was closed, we enjoyed eating there before Dixie Landings and Port
Orleans became one resort. If you are planning a trip to Wlat Disney
World I would recommend to stay on site the transportation is a
plus not to have to drive and park then take the monorail or the
ferry. I have always been treated as a welcomed guest at the Walt
Disney Resorts and I will continue to support them year after year."

"i loved port
orleans french quarter, the people were fantastic, and the food
was the best,as you walk down the streets you feel as though you
can turn around and see the horse drawn carriages comming towards
you,it is romantic, and so much fun to be there, the pool is the best
not only can you go on the water slide ,but you can just relax and
enjoy your stay,it is notonly clean and romantic but it is also
beautiful, hopefully in 2002 if god helps us and the country i will
return to port orleans, and cry again when i have to leave,if you
have never been there you will enjoy it, for my grandchildren they
loved it and ask to be taken there again hope to be there again
in 2002, thank you disney for a dream come true." (7/00) penny
"our hotel
room was very nice and emaculate we were on the 3rd floor we visited
wdw for eight days and loved every second of it! we especially loved
the pool and slide and the boat that took us to downtown disney.
I would highly recommend this resort to anyone travling to wdw.
The dining options were good in bonafamiles we had dinner there
one night it was exceptional, sassagoula float works was ok, we
had breaakfast there everyday except for 3 days we were other places.
overall view of the resort was great could have more tropical gardens
and more pool bar locations." (8/00) Dana Thurlo
"We'd booked
2 interconnecting standard rooms (parking lot view), I'd sent a
fax to the room controller a couple of days before we got there
reconfirming our rooms and mentioning our trip was a special celebration
- when we got to check-in we'd been upgraded to pool view rooms.
We were in building 5, right next to the beautiful pool, a couple
of seconds walk from the food court and very near the bus stop.
We couldn't have asked for a better location. Our rooms were kept
spotlessly clean and we had the most fantastic maids - every evening
when we'd get back from the parts we'd find the towels laid out
decoratively in the bathroom, animal shapes made out of the face
clothes (monkey, rabit, etc) and our beds turned down - we certainly
didn't expect that every day.
We were disappointed that Bonfamilles (the full service restaurant)
was closed, but it didn't really effect us because we'd eat in the
parks or other resorts. We did try the food court and it was pretty
good, we also went to Scat Cats Lounge every night after we'd eaten
and it was brilliant. Sometimes they'd have a jazz player and the
atmosphere was really very special. We tried some appetizers there
(nachos, steak sandwick) which again were very good and the portions
were huge! We walked down to Riverside a couple of times to eat
at Boatwrights and we had really good meals there, it's quite loud
with loads of families but that's all part of the atmosphere. The
food was very, very good - we had a beautiful filet migone at a
fraction of the price of California Grill but equally as good.
PO FQ is such a compact resort it really doesn't take very long
to get anywhere. To get to Riverside it took us less than 10 minutes
walk along the Sassagoula which is a beautiful walk, of course you
can always hope on a bus but it's so much nicer to walk. Another
plus point at PO FQ is the buses pick up/drop off first before going
to Riverside. We didn't have to wait long for the buses at all,
plus they now have bus controllers at the stops so if the queues
get long or a bus is full they just call up another one. Sometimes
the bus didn't even stop off at Riverside, it just went straight
to the parks. Also, the controllers were at Riverside to make sure
everyone got a bus there, hopefully this will put an end to the
old story of Riverside guests not getting a bus. PO FQ (and Riverside)
really are the best, nothing can beat their beautiful location."

"I was more
than happy with the accomodations at the Port Orleans - French Quarter.
I like this resort better than others I have stayed at because it
is smaller than most and more cozy. The food in both the Sassagoula
Floatworks and the sit down restaurant are very good. They staff
(as they are in almost every corner of Disney World) were pleasant
and extremely helpful. They drove us to our room on a luggage cart
because my mother is disabled. Our room most recent room was at
the farthest corner from the main building but was still only about
a 2 minute walk from the restaurants and bus stops. All in all it
is a very pleasant hotel. I would recommend it to anyone. In fact,
I have booked another trip staying at the Port Orleans - French
Quarter in December, 2002." (11/99) Stacey Powell
"We'd booked
our holiday through BA Holidays so were due to have a standard view
(parking lot) room. I sent a fax to the room controller a few days
before we were due to arrive and couldn't believe it on arrival
when we were given our room keys and told we were in building 5
- right next to the beautiful pool. We really couldn't have had
a better room, fantastic location, very close to the foodcourt and
buses yet a lovely view. The room itself was clean and was equipped
with a fridge and hairdryer as per our requests.
Unfortunately, on our first night we had very noisy people in the
room above us who were playing music loudly at 2.45 am so I called
the front desk and within 5 minutes the duty manager had been round
and told them to turn it off. Thankfully this didn't happen again.
We ate out most nights but did eat once at Boatwrights where we
had an excellent meal. We also ate appetisers at Scat Cats at FQ
where Elliott the jazz player is there Wednesday-Saturday (brilliant
atmosphere) and ate once at the food court. The food was actually
very good at the food court - something we were surprised about.
PO FQ really is beautiful. We'd stayed before so knew what to expect,
it's our favourite resort. We'd stroll down the Sassagola at night
to Riverside, it is such a gorgeous walk.
The buses were run very efficiently. 'Controllers' were located
at every stop and ensured that there were never any really long
queues and if the buses got too crowded they'd call another one
up. Disney really handled this well. We also got the boat to Downtown
Disney but found sometimes we'd have a wait if we wanted to catch
it from the FQ as it was often full leaving Riverside, but no problem,
we'd just walk down to Riverside and catch it there, afterall it's
only a 5/10 minute slow walk and so lovely.
Overall we couldn't fault PO FQ, OK so it's not a deluxe resort
but you really can't beat it's location, it is just so beautiful
and the Disney staff really do go out of their way to help."

"Port Orleans
was charming. The theming was terrific. With eyes opened gazing
at the great and distinctive architecture or with eyes closed taking
in the smell of beignets or the Zydeco music, you are transported
to New Orleans. The rooms are impeccably clean and spacious.
It is always a treat to have beignets! The food court was decorated
quite well and the quality of the food served was adequate for the
snacking that we did. Since we chose to eat at the dizzying array
of restaurants in the parks, I'm not able to comment on the restaurant
at the resort.
Of course, the pool was fantastic! The 9 year old with me actually
chose the resort at which we stayed solely on the large dragon centerpiece
and slide. It was a pool adults could enjoy as well. Access to paddle
boats and other water "toys" was a big bonus. The journey to Downtown
Disney via boat just added to the feel.
Bus transportation to the parks was nice since our section was quite
close to the bus stop and we were picked up and dropped off before
all of the folks from Dixie Landings." (1997) Amy
"We went to
Port Orleans in march of 2000 and we had a ball! it was very clean.
Our room was located in a pleasant courtyard. It was perfect for
the little money that we spent to stay there... The food court wasn't
so hot. It closed kind of early and the menu was lacking. It wasn't
a very magical food court. The restaurant was ok, but not as good
as crystal palace! Its a nice resort. Its comfortable. I loved sliding
down the dragon's tongue at the themed pool. There are no quiet
pools, and that's a let down. But the Sassagoula River is in the
backyard and that is super cool! The boatride to downtown disney
is also a plus to this resort. On a scale of 1 to 10, i'd give port
orleans, french quarter a 7." (march 2000) Adam
"My boyfriend
and I stayed in The Port Orleans in Oct. 2000, I really loved it,
It is a smaller resort compared to the rest of the Disney Resorts,
and I liked that. We never had trouble with the buses, they stop
at the dixie landings stop but we were the first stop on the way
home and some times on our way to the park we were the only stop.
I wish there never closed the restaurant, that was just silly, Never
ate in the Food Court, had appetizers at Scat Cats one night, were
good. Boat Ride to downtown Disney very nice, and very friendly
skippers. We had a great time and would recommend this hotel." Kim,
berlykim22@aol.com (2/01)
"I stayed
at PO in 2000. The bus service is the worst I have ever had a DW
Resort. There are too many stops at Dixie Landings and the wait
to get home from the parks was awful. We would see 2-3 busses for
Carribean Beach come and go before we would get one. This happened
at all parks and every night or day. At CB, the bus service and
food court is MUCH better. The pool is nice a PO, but everything
else is subpar for Disney. The food court is a mess all the time.
I did enjoy the boat ride to Pleasure Island. It was much faster
and more relaxing than getting there by bus." Hawkins@vci.net

"We(Husband,Wife and 3yr old son) stayed at PO July 1998.
It was great. We had a water view room of the pool. This worked
out great because during the afternoon when everyone was trying
to cram WDW into one day, we were at our room or in the pool relaxing.
With the pool, playground, snack shack, and laundry facilities right
across from our room, entertaining a tired family was easy. We are
trying to decide which resort to stay in this summer. We are thinking
about the campground or the Contemporary. However, we have an addition
of a 15 month daughter we cannot decide which resort would be the
best. I highly recommend PO if you have kids because of the resort
size. Facility and staff are great!"
"We just stayed
at PO in 3/00. We loved it! The boat ride was wonderful. The resort
workers were so helpful in all we asked, they could not do enough
for me or my children. We stayed at bldg. 5 which was perfect because
we were near everything. It was nice to use DL pool and it was enjoyable
walk. If you want a relaxing place to stay this is it."
"We were at
disney in 1999 and stayed at the Port Orleans Resorts. It was a
wonderful vacation. The services at the resort was great. The only
bad time with busses were the return trips at night. Busses ran
late and were very over crowded. Even with that in mind we can't
wait till we go back in 2001. Our 10yr old wants to stay at the
All Movie Resort with the Buzz light year bunch. My husband wants
the Port Orleans again he says"why not stay where we know everything
will be prefect". Martha B.smpben@ktc.com
"My daughter,
mother, and I stayed at Port Orleans twice. Each time we had a lovely
courtyard view. My daughter loved the pool, and we all loved the
boat ride to Downtown Disney. The beignets were delicious, especially
after a long day at the parks. The only thing we dreaded was stopping
at all 4 Dixie Landing bus stops on our way to the parks. We were
happy to be the 1st on the PO/DL bus and the 1st off." twood@weatherford.isd.tenet.edu
"My family
and I stayed at Port Orleans four times, beginning in Febuary of
1994. As you can guess from the number of times we were there, we
adored it. The atmosphere was wonderful (pastel colored buildings!
Wrought ironwork! It's like New Orleans without the crime!), the
rooms were immaculate (until littered with countless toys and merchandise,
of course.), and the gardens are gorgeous! I especially like the
old pictures in the rooms. My only problem with the resort is that
the restaurant does not offer a wide variety of foods, but that's
easily solved by eating in one of the parks."
"Myself and
a girlfriend stayed at Port Orleans last year, and this year we
will be trying Carribean Beach. The Port Orleans is very charming,
and the breakfast buffet at the restaurant is great. All of the
bartenders there are super friendly too! And you can't beat the
boat ride to Downtown Disney and Disney Marketplace - it really
is a refreshing break from another bus."
"My husband and
I visited Disney World in March of this year. We decided to spend
the evening at a WDW Resort Hotel. After careful consideration,
we decided to stay at Port Orleans. we went a little further, requesting
a room with a water view. I must admit we were excited about staying
in a Disney hotel. But those joys were short lived. You could barely
see the water from our room, the room itself was like staying in
a Best Western, and the restaurant choices were disappointing. Both
my husband and I were extremely disallusioned with our experience
at Disney. I would have to truly consider my options before I choose
to stay at a WDW Resort Hotel again in the future. This prospect
saddens me since I am an avid Disneyaholic." Colleen D'Ambrosio
"My family
and I stayed at Port Orleans in April of 1999. We loved it. We found
the food at the food courts to be sub-par and I have noticed from
reading some of the other comments that we were not the only ones
who thought that. My wife had a big problem with some birds that
were nesting at the resort. They would attack anyone with long hair
and i witnessed at least 30 other woman being "attacked". Actually
they would fly down and grab at thier hair. Just wondering if the
other resorts had the same problem. going back in April, 2000. any
info on this my e-mail is A3795@aol"
"My favorite is
Port Orleans. I always travel with adult friends with no children
in tow, and Port Orleans seems to attract the least families. It
only has one pool, a small food court, and it probably isn't as
exciting for kids as the other resorts. It's perfect for grown ups
tho."
"My family and
I stayed at Port Orleans in Dec. 96, it is a beautiful resort! Request
building 4 or 5 to be close to the bus stop and food court! Request
a corner room , if you want a bright room! Don't forget after a
day at the parks , to relax up until 12:30a.m. at Scat Cat's Lounge,
where they have live entertainment-both singing and jokes, a beautiful
sidewalk cafe, as if you were in France! Really Cool! Check out
the couirtyards all throughout the resort, and enjoy!" KellyDan98@aol.com
"My husband and
I stayed at Port Orleans in March'97 on our honeymoon. We loved
it! The rooms were very nicely decorated and comfortable. The atmosphere
was relaxing and peaceful. We too enjoyed the boat ride to Downtown
Disney. This is a great resort for couples especially with the convenience
of Pleasure Island moments away."
"My husband and
I are planning our 2nd visit to Port Orleans this November. We like
it for it's quaint, New Orleans charm and found it nice and quiet
for those who are looking for a break from noisy children. We also
liked turning off the lights to go to sleep and discovering glow-in-the-dark
glitter on the ceiling over our bed, like looking up at the stars!
Also, the boat ride to and from Pleasure Island/Downtown Disney
is a nice way to wind down the evening, rather than cramming our
bodies into the bus with so many others. I highly recommend this
resort!"
