"These accomodations were first class all the way. The room
was impeccable,, the service was beyond excellent. Our room had
a huge balcony overlooking the Bay.
The Restaurants were great. The food the service...just great!
I would stay at the Portofino Bay Hotel again and again if I am
lucky enough to do so. The short boat ride to the parks was a pleasure,,and
such a convenience. The Hotel staff was so pleasant I joked to my
husband that I wanted whatever they were all on : ) They were all
so friendly and accomodating. Turn down service,,from the music
to the Ice Bucket being filled,, wine glasses in place,,chocolates,,
fresh towels,,spa Robes,, I gotta tell ya,, the feeling that you
were in Italy,, from the sights,, the smells of the food,, the Italian
music,,just got home last night,, we will be back." (1/04)

"If you are planning a trip to Orlando for theme park attractions
don't waste the money at Portofino's. If you're looking for a resort,
go to The Hyatt. The ambience is beautiful, the proximity seems
convienient, but it all wears off quickly. The room service left
too much to be desired. My room was never cleaned, bedding changed,
nor personal items replenished during my five day stay Christmas
week. During my 1st night's stay, I found myself jamming the start
button on the coffee pot with a straw to keep it "on"
so it would brew. While showering the bath tub backed up with water.
In order to blow dry my hair I had to tweeze the lint out from the
vents of the blowdryer to keep it from overheating. Not being one
to complain, I was lucky to have the service elevator near my room
where I went to get towels, toilet tissue, coffee, cups, sugar,
body cream, etc.. I took my own towels and trash to this elevator
when it would build up. I washed my coffee cups and glasses daily.
I felt like I was at home. The staff was friendly. The food was
of high quality and the service was professional. From my experience,
I would not stay at Portofino's again. The expense did not parallel
the room service." (12/03) lotus
"Loved it,
loved it, loved it. This hotel saved our failed vacation attempt
at The Hard Rock Hotel (see my review from 2/03). We came to the
Portofino after spending 7 wonderful nights at the Polynesian at
WDW and 2 horrible nights at the Hard Rock at Universal. Everything
about the Portofino is amazing. The decorations, the restaurants,
the staff, the rooms and the view! Although it was too cool to swim,
the pools looked amazing and the grounds were just breathtaking.
I loved it, my children, 4 & 5, loved it and my husband loved it
too. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who likes the finer
things in life since this hotel is one of the finest I've ever been
lucky enough to enjoy." (7/03)
"We stayed at the Portofino Bay during spring break and had
an excellent time. The service was great, the atmosphere was perfect,
and the front of the line access at Universal Studios, and Islands
of Adventure was indispensible. This was the best vacation ever,
and we'll be anxious to return." (4/03)
"We stayed at Portofino Bay in 1999 and it is
the most beautiful hotel we've ever stayed in. You would think you
were in Italy. A picture I took from our taxi-boat looking at the
hotel looks like a postcard. We will stay here again one day. We
are going to stay at the Hard Rock for July 4th and can't wait.
Made by Loews as was Portofino so I know it will be a top notch
hotel. Then we are ending up our trip at Disney and staying at AKL.
We love Universal and Disney and so glad we can do both and stay
at wonderful hotels. That's as much fun to me! I'll try to scan
that photo and email it to you. If I ever remarry.....it will be
at Portofino Bay." (5/02) gk
