"My husband
and I stayed at the Grand Floridian for the first part of our honeymoon.
The hotel was gorgeous and it was so exciting to see all of the
brides getting married there. The monorail ran right through the
hotel and the bus stopped there very frequently. We had a lagoon
room and we could see the fireworks over Cinderella's castle at
night. It was magical. The decor was a little less than we expected
but it was suited for children(it is Disney!). we ate at the restaurant
as well, and the food was very good. The day we left for the Bahamas,
we attended the character breakfast. My husband and I got a big
kick out of it and would love to return. We're planning another
trip for 3/03." (6/01) Stacey Swiecicki
"I am a complete
disney fanatic. While staying at the Grand Floridian, I married
a man named Mickey and got married in the gazebo at The Yacht Club.
Although my wedding was fabulous (disney goes all out) , I have
to say I was somewhat disappointed with the hotel. The rooms were
average. Nothing too exciting. The pool was lacking for families
with small children. The food was mediocre and the spa prices were
very high. I did love the location and access to the monorail but
fo u nd the staff somewhat snobby and unhelpful ( we are in our
30's) to anyone who wasn't older and flashing cash. Save your money
and stay somewhere else on property. I have stayed at about 6 of
the properties and have had better experiences elsewhere."

"Our stay
began as Concierge greeted us a the main doors and escorted us to
our room. The room was on the very secluded Clarendon level. The
room was nice, however they musy have just washed the carpets before
we arrived because they were still wet. We had an unbeatable view
of Cinderlla Castle, we watched the fireworks from our balcony.
Both my husband and I are picky eaters, so thank god for Gasparilla
Grill. Overall, our room was clean, but housekeeping didn't do anything
special for us like we have had in the past. I liked it, I will
stay there again." (6/02) Jessica
"the Grand
Floridian is the BEST! I've been both to Disney world and Disney
land and stayed at the Grand Californian but NOTHING compairs! the
staff was Always there for you, the Concierge was practicly part
of the family by the time we left, we were on the second from the
top floor facing the water and had a wonderful view. the food was
great and the In Hotel Babysitting service was The Best! my 4 year
old had a wonderful women who was BETTER then his own GRANDMOTHER!
The room service food was good along with the rest of the dining
areas there but the BEST was VICTORIA AND ALBERTS. we have eaten
in the main restaurant and down in the kitchen area for a private
party..the food couldn't have been better." helen murphy
"This would
be a great resort even without WDW. It is also the least "Disneyfied"
resort. Entertainment here consists of a pianist and dance band
alternating in the main lobby. The grounds are magnificent and large
enough so you get the feeling of being away from everything. Elegance,
elegance, elegance.
Fare 1900 has a good buffet. It's a character breakfast and dinner.
They have dumped their notorious all villian meals that reportedly
scared the kids and now feature Winnie the Pooh and friends. Good
ratio of characters to children. Victoria and Albert's. What can
I say? This restaurant is not only the best of Disney but one of
the best in Florida. A quiet, elegant room with each table being
served by a maid and butler names Victoria and Albert. Very find
cuisine and desserts thatg will knock you out of your chair. The
price fixed menu gives you a choice of five courses and an optional
matching wine with each course will run you $115 per person. It's
worth it.
FIve minutes to Magic Kingdom via monorail. A little longer to to
Epcot. Also easy if you want to eat at Polynesian or Contemporary
as all share the monorial." (2/02) Steve Rosenstein
"The room
was magnificent!!! We stayed in the Boca Chica building and the
view was incredible. It overlooked the seven seas lagoon and we
were able to see cinderellas castle from our balcony!!! At night
we had our own private front rpw seat for the fireworks. If the
opportunity arises I would absolutely recommend the Grand Floridian.
The dining at the resort was second to none. We have stayed at several
of the disney resort over the years and have enjoyed all of our
dining experiences. The Grand Floridian, however, is in a class
by itself from 1900 Park Fare to the counter sevrice. From Victoria
and Albert's to Narcooseese the experience is unsurpassed."

"This is Disneys
best resort. The housekeeping was very very good. the cleanest hotel
room i ever had. I love the baskets that housekeeping had for the
towels and supplies. i think they are much better than carts. it
makes the hotel hallways much nicer. The hotel also had a great
smell. The food was great too! The staff was very friendly. I really
think for a magical stay you should stay at this resort." (12/31/00-1/3/01)

"The Room
was lovely ! We had booked a lagoon view room and the view was stunning
! I have stayed in every disney resort (except Pop Century and All-Star)
and this one definitely has the niscest rooms they were very clean
, spacious and lavishly decorated . Room Service o.k but you may
have to wait a while.
dining: WOW ! Victoria and Alberts was amazing you have your own
personal butler and brilliant menu (although expensive) Highly Reccomended
. Narcoossee's is excellent the views over Magic Kingdom are brilliant
! and the cooking itself is a spectacle here you can also have character
breakfasts.
overall: EXCELLENT ! Every year when I come back to DW with my family
this is definitely the resort I would choose . Although expensive
- It is excellent . When you enter the lobby you will see how special
this resort really is . The pools are o.k but not as good as Polyneisian
or Boardwalk . 10/10 - superb" (8/01) Richard
"The accomodations
at this resort cannot be beat. I thought our room was beautiful
and everything was very clean. Having a young child traveling with
us, I am very picky about cleanliness. I never had any problem here.
We had the most beautiful view of the Magic Kingdom and Cinderella's
castle. We stood on our balcony at night and watched the castle
change colors and watched the Electrical Water Pageant. Our room
was located right by the boat dock so on the night of the fireworks
we could not see the fireworks right from our balcony but we could
hear the music piped in from the boat dock.
We ate at several of the choices offered by the Grand Floridian
and were impressed with all three. We dined three times at 1900
Park Fair and always found the food to be delicious. Service here
was sonderful and I highly recommend the character breakfast with
Mary Poppins, Pinnochio and Gepetto, and of course Alice and the
Mad Hatter. The Grand Floridian Cafe' is a wonderful spot for lunch
and very easy on the wallet compared to many other lunches we had
at the parks. Narcoossee's is fabulous for seafood and if you time
it right you can sit by the windows and have a spectacular view
of the fireworks from the Magic Kingdom.
While we feel the other resorts certainly have their appeal, we
are hooked on the Grand Floridian. To us, it is worth every penny
and we won't stay anywhere else. We found the staff to be very friendly
and helpful and never snooty. Our daughter was 2 1/2 for our first
trip and she loved this resort. Having the monorail right there
was another plus, we could hop on and be in the MK in less than
five minutes. While others may not like the seperate buildings and
having to walk a little to reach the main building, we thought this
was charming and part of the appeal. The walk is a quick one from
anywhere on the property and it gave us a chance to enjoy the magnificent
grounds at the GF. They do a marvelous job on the landscaping at
this hotel! Looking forward to our next trip in December 2001!!"

"The 2nd resort
I stayed at on Disney Property was the Grand Floridian, with my
travel club from Boston, Ma., and I'll always remember my first
view of that gorgeous lobby as our group stood by the table at the
entrance while the manager passed out our packets and room keys.
And the fragrance from that huge bouquet of flowers on the table
was just wonderful! Then we were driven in those little golf carts
around the property to our rooms. I've always stayed in the Boca
Chica building with a pool view and just love it. Although there
are 5 lodge buildings, none of them are that far from the main lobby
& restaurants, and you have that lovely view (pool, gardens, etc)
to enjoy as you walk towards the lobby bldg. The rooms are always
immaculate, even though Boca Chica hadn't yet been renovated last
time I was there. And I found the feeling of luxury conveyed by
the room & resort very relaxing after a day of running around the
parks.
I love the Grand Floridian Cafe. It's cheerful, pleasant and the
wait staff are great. I've had breakfast, lunch & dinner there and
found the food very good. It's nice for a sit down meal that's not
too pricey at that resort. The Gasparilla Grill is good for a quick
take out & it's pleasant sitting at the umbrella tables outside.
I've had the character buffet breakfast & dinner at 1900 Park Fare
and found it excellent. And of course, Tea in the Garden View Lounge
is a unique experience and filling enough to pass for a light, early
dinner or just a yummy dessert of just tea & strawberries with whipped
cream. Haven't tried the pricier restaurants there except Narcoossee's
once for lunch. The dining options there are varied, from inexpensive
to beyond my budget! And the Polynesian & Contemporary are only
5 minutes by monorail for additional options close by!
This is a truly lovely resort with outstanding service. Although
I've seen many families there, some people may find the feeling
of the resort too formal or with not enough activities available
for their older children, if they still have energy left after running
around the parks all day! I've taken my God daughter to the G.F.
when she was 7 & 8, and after we stayed at the Wilderness Lodge,
she commented that the Grand Floridian was too fancy! She was after
me to stay at the Yacht & Beach Club after she saw the pool there!
Perhaps the new pool area at G.F.will provide a more lively alternative
for children. I've stayed at the G.F. with & without a car and either
way, it is easy to get around as the monorail is right there and
the G.F. has it's own bus service to the other parks. The car was
more convenient for outside Disney or if we went to Epcot or MGM
at night. This is my all time favorite resort, and I've stayed at
some of the best with my travel club. As it's so expensive, I've
only stayed there during value season, even with my club. I'll be
staying there again in December, 2001 where my Disney Club membership
will provide a very good discount. So if ambiance, elegance and
feeling pampered add to your overall vacation experience, this is
the place to find it. If nightlife & entertainment options within
walking distance are a priority, try the Boardwalk Inn or the Yacht
& Beach Club." Ann Marie ('99)
