LAKE BUENA VISTA -- Layoffs started Tuesday at Disney as people were let go and walked out by security.
It’s all part of the reorganization plan News 13 told you about back in February.
Executives took voluntary packages up until Tuesday, and then the layoffs began.
The reorganization plan merges the Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort behind stage operations into one organization.
News 13 spoke with Disney who said cast members are being treated with respect and would not comment on security.
In a statement from Disney, Mike Griffin, the vice president of communications, says, “These changes are essential in maintaining our leadership position on family tourism and reflect today's economic reality, and these changes unfortunately will result in the elimination of positions."
