"After hearing what happened in the first few days of the
service, me and my two friends decided NOT to have any check-in
luggages. We arrived at MCO at 9:00am and strolled through the airport.
After taking the 'air train' to the main terminal, there were DME
CMs all over the terminal with their mickey hands waving at people
directing people to the DME desk located 2 flights down from the
arrival terminal.
We got to the desk at about 9:30am and there were only perhaps
10 people waiting in line. I got to the counter in no time and the
CM asked me if I received the booklet in the mail (which I never
did!), then he checked my hotel reservation and printed out 3 DME
vouchers for our return trip to the airport.
Each hotel (or in some cases multiple hotels share the same waiting
lines) has each own waiting area (just like the Disney bus stops
at the theme parks), guests are directed to their hotel waiting
area to be picked up by the coach/bus. We were lucky to go directly
through the waiting area and on to the bus without any wait.
We arrived at our resort at 10:10am. It only took us 40 minutes
in total (from the DME counter to Pop Century resort), it was the
perfect way to start our vacation!
It's exactly like the cruise line coach, just newer with red seats
and LCD TV screens.
On Board, they play movies welcoming guests to Disney World and
how by choosing DME it's the magical start to your vacation (with
all Disney characters). Then they show you the 4 theme parks with
the must sees etc.
I didn't tip the driver from airport to my resort (I forgot), but
tipped on my return trip. I don't think you have to, tip them only
when you feel like it." (5/05) Joy
"This is May 8, day four of the program. On May 5, when I
arrived, there were long lines snaking around the DME desk on the
rental cars floor at MCO, and families just lying around everywhere,
waiting for luggage to show up so they can take the busses to the
resorts. Guests are NOT allowed to pick up their own luggage, but
are directed to 'describe' their luggage at the DME desk, who will
then find it, tag it, and take it to the resorts.
I overheard one Mom say she'd been there two hours already, and
they still didn't know if they had found her luggage. that must
have been a short wait - one bellman told me the average wait yesterday
(day 3) was about 4-5 hours, and that the longest wait he had heard
was 8 hours. He still had Guests from Thursday who still did not
have their luggage. Guests are frustrated, irritated, and the start
of this service has been anything BUT magical.
I asked one Guest what he thought of the service and he said he
hated it, wished he'd booked a limo company, and that he "got
what (he) paid for, never again!" (5/05) Marion
