These days, most hotel chains and airlines have some sort of loyalty scheme or frequent flyer program. Free to join, these programs off guests the chance to collect points which can be used towards free nights at their hotels or free flights and upgrades. Most schemes allow members to earn points through their 'partners', and also redeem points for other things with their 'partner' companies. Some even have special credit cards which can be used to earn points on every day shopping. So, if you're planning to stay at any of these hotels or fly with these airlines, I'd strongly recommend signing up. Some programs even have special rates for members, meaning you can start saving straight away.
