DAY 4 – Monday, December 25 (Christmas)
I got up at 7:30 (others were up at 7:00). We left for MGM at 9:15.
We used the walkway. Just let me say early on, this walkway was NOT
crowded what so ever. We were normally the only ones on it. It was great!
I don’t think anybody knew about it, so maybe that was why.
As soon as we got through the gates, we went straight to the Tower
of Terror. 6 of us (including me!) rode the Tower of Terror, while the
others took our cards and got FastPasses for Rock ‘n Rollercoaster (because
we’re the adventurous group out of the family. We are the same ones
all the time riding the thrill rides!) For the Tower of Terror, there
was only a 15 minute wait! Got on in the first two rows, and dropped
5 1/2 times. The “bellhop” who was at our elevator was absolutely hilarious.
The way he talked and his expressions were great! You could tell he
was having a lot of fun.
After we got off the Tower of Terror, we waited about 20 minutes before
getting in line for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. Once in line, we waited
a total of 10 minutes! Hooray! My sister and I were in the front row,
and that is probably my favorite seat on the ride. At the launch, we
got a HUGE burst of wind in our face, and we could barely breathe for
those 2.8 seconds.
After we got off the ride, we headed for the Great Movie Ride. Yet
again we get a short wait of 10 minutes. Our “guide” could not speak
English very well at all, and it made the ride a little boring. I’m
sure the first timers in our group didn’t seem too thrilled, and I wish
the guide was better, because this is a great ride, and to them it wasn’t
so great.
Next was Star Tours. The Stand-By line was 30 minutes I think, so we
got FastPasses. We now went to Muppet Vision 4D with a little wait.
We used our FastPasses for Star Tours with a 10 minute wait, then went
to Sounds Dangerous to kill time before our 2:05 PS at Sci-Fi. This
is the absolute worst attraction at Walt Disney World in my opinion.
I really did not like it, and everyone else felt the same way.
After this, we walked around a little more, then we checked-in for
Sci-Fi about 20 minutes early, and were seated within 10 minutes. I
love this atmosphere of this place, and the food was decent. It seemed
much different for me (although it wasn’t) from when I was there last,
which was when I was 7.
We ate, then Mom, Dad, Kristin and I went back to the room, while others
went on the Backlot Studios Tour, and Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular.
Once the 4 of us were back in the room, Dad, Kristin, and I went to
Epcot via the International Gateway. (This was used many times throughout
the trip because it was SO convenient!) We went in shops at the United
Kingdom, and Canada, then went to Mouse Gears. (We are looking for things
we want to buy on Wednesday with the 15% off discount we get from buying
the Candlelight Processional Dinner Package.) Then we went around the
countries starting with Mexico. We stopped at the Outpost looking at
hats for Dad, and then as we were leaving and heading for Germany, the
bridge we China and the Outpost was up, and they were bringing out the
things for Illuminations 2000. That was cool! We then went back to the
International Gateway, and back to the room.
The others came about an hour later. We then had sandwiches from the
things we bought at Publix. We talked for awhile, then decided to “borrow”
a movie. (Being DVC Members, we don’t have to pay, we can just borrow)
Kristin, Brenden, and I went to Community Hall to borrow a movie, but
we couldn’t find anything good, because there was a limited selection.
We decided to borrow a game. We picked out Scattergories, and it was
a blast! I came in last, but I was the only one not on a team. We went
to bed at 11:30.
Having this been our first day at the parks as one big family, it was
a lot of fun. For many of them, it was there first time at Walt Disney
World, or they haven’t been there for a long time. It was great to show
them everything, (because of being there 6 times for me and Kristin,
and 12 times for Mom and Dad, and I know a lot from reading the boards!)
It made this day a lot of fun, as it did in the days to come. Now I
really felt happy and excited from showing them all my knowledge of
“The World”. I really felt I was at Walt Disney World now.
Tomorrow we go to Magic Kingdom, and have a 2:00 PS for Crystal Palace!
