Holy Land General Information

The Holy Land Experience (opened Feb. 5, 2001) is a $16 million, 15-acre “living, biblical history museum,” recreating in elaborate and authentic detail the city of Jerusalem and its religious importance between the years 1450 B.C. and A.D. 66 (through the Old and New Testaments, from Genesis through Revelation). It is a total sensory experience that is educational, historical, theatrical, inspirational, and evangelistic, blending sights, sounds, and tastes that transport guests 7,000 miles away and 3,000 years back in time.

Its purpose is three-fold: 1) to create a wholesome, family oriented, and educational facility where Christians can come to be encouraged and reinforced in their faith....2) to create a “total immersion” experience that offers historical proof of the Bible and dynamically demonstrates that the Bible is God’s Word to man….and 3) to lovingly share the message of the grace of God for sinful men, as demonstrated in the death, burial, and resurrection of His Son.

From the moment that guests pass through the gates of the “walled city” of ancient Jerusalem and enter a bustling, authentic A.D. 66 Jerusalem street market, they embark on a journey that is unequalled anywhere in the world. They are able to see, touch, hear, and even taste the fascinating culture of the Holy Land in a world-class, living, Biblically-based museum.

The Holy Land Experience combines themed costumes, dramatic enactments, special music written exclusively for the project, theatrical events, high-tech, multimedia presentations and a moving film --“The Seed of Promise”-- shot on location in Israel. It all comes together to create the wondrous journey back as far as circa 1450 B.C., during the time of Moses, when the Israelites were wandering in the desert for 40 years, on through Jesus’ teachings in the Temple of the Great King, His crucifixion and forward to A.D. 66, four years before the Romans destroyed the city and the Temple.

Allow yourself 3 to 5 hours to complete your visit. It is best if you arrive early (15 minutes before the gates open) or 3 to 5 hours before our facility closes.
