"When we arrived the room was not ready as we were early, we waited
in reception for an hour and a half before being told our room was ready,
we had two adjoining rooms - whilst one was clean the cleaning staff
where still in the other room.
They left another half hour later and we entered our room and started
to unpack. The first draw we opened we found another persons bag with
various medical implements, soiled napkins and what looked like a turkey
baster!!!.
We took the bag to reception and they took it away without so much as
a sorry or a smile.
The day before we were due to leave, we had a character breakfast in
the restaurant, and from the window we could see staff coming and going
from our room. It was only when we returned to our room I found out
that my watch had gone missing from the bedside table.
We reported the watch missing and the security staff promised to investigate
this matter fully.
Since then we have tried to get a response from the Grosvenor Resort
without any success, every attempt to make contact is ignored. Stay
away from this resort." (8/03) Gary McMahon
"We stayed at the Grosvenor in early June. We had accomidations
at another Disney Resort, but at the
last minute my brother and sister decided to go,along with theri families.
To accomidate everyone's budget
we changed hotels to the Grosvenor. We had a Downtown Disney View (Tower
Room). This room was wonderful, we watched the firworks from all around
Disney World every evening. We could see beautiful Downtown Disney.
All our souvenir shopping was done right across the street at Downtown
Disney. Our room had a refrigerator and we were able to save a fortune
on quick meals and snacks. Grosvenor is located near a Disney World
exit, so shopping for food and other restaurants are just down the road.
We had rental cars, but only used them for SeaWorld and airport trips.
The shuttle buses are the easiest way to go (No $$$ for parking). The
Hotel was beautiful and everyone was very friendly. The restaurant was
good, we ate breakfast with the characters!!! The little snack bar in
the lobby was great, the prices were cheaper than in the parks. This
hotel saved me about $1000.00 a room and was well worth it,the location
was perfect. This trip was priceless for my family because of a tragic
accident that killed our nephew soon after we returned home. I would
recommend this hotel to anyone. Don't wait to take this trip!!!"

"Wonderful staff, great room (wing room with pool view) I liked
everything about this hotel, from the staff to the amenities. A note
though, the elevators are really hard to find in the wings. Kinda like
a maze. Rooms were clean and even the maid was pleasant (even though
we didn't speak the same language) I give it a 9!!" (02) Tim B.
" I have just returned from a 10-day
Disney family vacation at the Grosvenor Resort. April 9-19, 2002. Even though
there was not much info out there on the Downtown Disney hotels, most of it is
very basic and some quite negative. But with a great deal of Internet research
my wife and I decided on the Grosvenor. I was very impressed and happy with everything.
First, staring with the hotel rate directly from the resort, it was unmatched.
I had reservation for a courtyard room plus full buffet breakfast for ten days
and one full buffet dinner for my family, 2 adults, 2 children and 1 infant. The
package was $1199 total including tips and taxes. It was $71 plus tax for the
room the balance for the meals which work out to about $8 for breakfast per adult
and $4 for children including tip and taxes. (The best I found on the Internet
was $99/night room only.) I was not able to get this rate at the any of the All
Star Resorts. We had Character breakfasts (Goofy & Pluto) included on Tuesdays,
Thursdays and Saturdays. The breakfast buffet worked out great because we were
able to have a large breakfast and save a lot on lunch by only snacking and a
small lunch in the parks. i.e. fries for the kids and an ice cream in the mid
afternoon. We often had a nice sit down dinner. The Grosvenor is a member of SRS-World
Hotels and as such they have some benefit partners. I was able to find on SRS
web site their partner German airline Lufthansa. I joined their frequent flyer
program for free as it offers free upgrades when available. This enabled us to
get a free upgrade on the room to a tower room on the 15th floor for the full
ten days. The service at the hotel was good not spectacular but definitely "first
class" The room was fine with 2 double beds and a day bed, VCR, fridge, iron/board,
hair dryer, TV etc... Secondly, the free Downtown Disney Buses were very frequent,
convenient and comfortable, more so then the Disney buses. With the Downtown Disney
bus we could put our two strollers and backpack in the coaches storage compartments,
on the Disney bus we had to carry everything on with us, this was a pain with
3 kids. Also, the seating in the Downtown buses is far superior as they are padded
and clothe, whereas the Disney buses are plastic. The proximity to Downtown Disney
was also very nice as it was less than a five minute walk even with the kids.
It also was handy when we had to go to Mickey's Backyard BBQ as we had to take
the Disney buses there or to the water parks. We could also take the Downtown
Disney buses to the other Downtown Disney hotels. This was helpful when we went
to the Crossroad Plaza up the street. Even though it is within walking distance,
with kids and food from Goodings 24 hour supermarket, the buses came in handy.
We could use both bus systems and it was just great, Although we did not go off
Disney. i.e. Universal, Seaworld etc.. In fact we did not rent a car on our stay
and it turns out just fine. We took a cab when necessary and a limo van to and
from the airport, adding to our savings. I visited the Hilton and the Hotel Plaza
and both seemed quite nice. I would definitely recommend the Grosvenor over the
All Star Resorts in the "Value" category. In fact, I don't see the benefit of
the "moderates" especially if you are in the parks most of the time as we were."
