Disabilities at Epcot - attraction access

 

 

Certain attractions require Guests to transfer from their wheelchairs to a ride system either by themselves or with the assistance of a member of their party. Walt Disney World® Resort hosts and hostesses are not permitted to physically assist Guests in transferring from their wheelchairs.

Auxiliary Entrance Limitations
Some attractions have auxiliary entrances for Guests with disabilities. These are intended to offer Guests in wheelchairs or with service animals a more convenient entrance to the attraction. Auxiliary entrances are not intended to bypass waiting lines. Guests with disabilities and up to five members of their party may enter through these entrances. The rest of the party should use the standard entrance.

"IllumiNations" Viewing and Show Areas
Because of Guest demand, viewing spaces cannot be reserved or guaranteed. Parties larger than six will be asked to separate and reunite afterwards. Guest Relations can provide information on show times and other special events on the day of each visit.

FUTURE WORLD

American Express Travel Service
Guests may remain in wheelchairs or ECVs to experience the attraction.
Provides services for American Express Cardmembers including travel arrangements, financial services, foreign currency, and travelers checks. Presented by American Express. Located to the far right of the turnstiles.

Leave a Legacy Courtyard
Guests may remain in wheelchairs or ECVs to experience the attraction.
Granite monoliths display panels with photographic images, commemorating Guests' visits. Wheelchair-accessible counters are available if you wish to purchase a Leave a Legacy image.

Spaceship Earth (Slow-moving vehicle through darkened ride)
Guests must be able to transfer from wheelchairs to board the attraction
Proceed to the exit of this attraction. A host or hostess will direct Guests for boarding. In this attraction, Guests move forward in slow-moving vehicles up a steep incline, and ride backward for a slow return down the incline. If an emergency evacuation of this ride is required, Guests must maneuver through stairwells or wait to be evacuated.
NOTE: This attraction is not recommended for Guests who experience anxiety in dark, narrow, or enclosed spaces. Because of the nature of the experience, Guests with service animals should check with a host or hostess at this attraction.

Global Neighborhood (Interactive exhibits)
Guests may remain in wheelchairs or ECVs to experience the attraction.

Innoventions (East and west sides)
Guests may remain in wheelchairs or ECVs to experience the attraction.

At Innoventions, you have the opportunity to get up close and personal, and even hands-on, with some of the latest developments that will change the way you live. Your hosts and hostesses will provide as much information and assistance as you need to explore these unique, interactive experiences at your own pace.
NOTE: Please check with a host or hostess at each exhibit for specific information and any boarding requirements. Assistive Listening and Captioning Systems are available for certain exhibit areas.

INNOVENTIONS (East side)
Guest Relations
Guest Relations is located on the east side of Spaceship Earth. Additionally, to the left of the entrance of Guest Relations, several WorldKey Information Satellite stations are available. The last one is accessible to Guests using wheelchairs. WorldKey Information Satellites may be used to make priority seating arrangements for dining at all Walt Disney World® Resort dining locations.
Electric Umbrella Restaurant (Counter service)
To access the upper level of seating, see a host or hostess to operate the elevator.

INNOVENTIONS (WEST SIDE)
Pasta Piazza Ristorante (Counter service)
Guests using wheelchairs should use the far right service counter.
Fountain View Espresso and Bakery (Counter service)
Use the ramp located to the right of the stairs. Once inside, Guests using wheelchairs should use the register to the left.

UNIVERSE OF ENERGY

Ellen's Energy Adventure (Slow-moving vehicle)
Guests must transfer from ECVs to available wheelchairs to experience the attraction.
Please enter through the standard queue. At the conclusion of the first part of the presentation, Guests using wheelchairs should enter the ride portion with all other Guests; however, instead of proceeding up the carpeted ramps to access seating, Guests should move to the right of the carpeted ramp and wait for a host or hostess to direct them in boarding. This attraction can accommodate up to six Guests using wheelchairs per show. Due to limited seating, Guests using wheelchairs and up to three members of their party can be accommodated in reserved seating. Guests using Electric Convenience Vehicles will need to transfer to a standard wheelchair that will be provided upon request by the host or hostess at the building entrance.

WONDERS OF LIFE

Body Wars (High-speed, turbulent, simulator-type thrill ride that includes sharp drops and sudden turns)
Guests must transfer from their ECV to a wheelchair and then from the wheelchair to experience the attraction.
Proceed through the standard queue. Wheelchairs may be brought into the Body Wars vehicle where Guests will be required to make a diagonal transfer to the vehicle seat. Guests using Electric Convenience Vehicles will need to transfer to a standard wheelchair that will be provided upon request by the host or hostess at the beginning of the queue. For safety and comfort, Guests should be in good health and free from heart, back, or neck problems, motion sickness, or other conditions that could be aggravated by this ride. Expectant mothers should not ride.
NOTE: There is a minimum height requirement of 40 inches to ride this attraction. Due to the nature of the experience, service animals are not permitted on this attraction.

Cranium Command (Theater presentation)
Guests may remain in wheelchairs or ECVs to experience the attraction.
Proceed through the standard queue. A host or hostess can direct you to designated seating areas.

"Goofy About Health" (Film presentation)
Guests may remain in wheelchairs or ECVs to experience the attraction.
Proceed through the standard entrance. A host or hostess can direct you to designated seating areas.

AnaComical Players (Live entertainment)
Guests may remain in wheelchairs or ECVs to experience the attraction.
Proceed through the standard entrance. A host or hostess can direct you to designated seating areas.

"The Making of Me" (Film presentation)
Guests may remain in wheelchairs or ECVs to experience the attraction.
Proceed to the left of the entrance where a host or hostess will direct you.

Shops and Snacks
All shops and snack locations are wheelchair-accessible.

TEST TRACK (High-speed, turbulent thrill ride including harsh road surfaces, sudden braking, sharp turns, and steeply banked curves)
Guests must be able to transfer from wheelchairs to board the attraction.
Proceed through the standard queue. When Guests exit the briefing rooms a host or hostess will direct them to the loading area. Guests will be required to transfer from their wheelchairs to the test vehicles to experience this attraction. There is a stationary vehicle available in a private area for Guests who wish to practice boarding and disembarking. Please contact a host or hostess for directions or to receive a supplementary pamphlet with additional boarding instructions.
If emergency evacuation from this ride is needed, Guests must negotiate stairs and walk through narrow passages or wait to be evacuated. For safety and comfort, Guests should be in good health and free from heart, back, or neck problems, motion sickness, or other conditions that could be aggravated by this ride. Expectant mothers should not ride.
NOTE: There is a minimum height requirement of 40 inches to ride this attraction. Due to the nature of the experience, service animals are not permitted on this attraction. Guests wishing to bypass the thrill ride may enter through the merchandise/exit area to explore the design and testing of automobiles and the latest in automotive products.

IMAGINATION!

"Honey, I Shrunk the Audience" (3-D film presentation)
Guests must transfer from ECVs to available wheelchairs to experience the attraction.
Guests should enter through the standard queue. Guests utilizing Electric Convenience Vehicles will need to transfer to a standard wheelchair that will be provided upon request by the host or hostess at the building entrance. Due to limited seating, Guests using wheelchairs and only one member of their party can be seated next to each other. All additional members of the party will be seated in the row in front. This theater can accommodate eight wheelchairs per show.
NOTE: The special effects in this presentation may be too intense for children and some adults.

Journey into Your Imagination (Slow-moving vehicle)
Guests may remain in wheelchairs or ECVs to experience the attraction.
Proceed through the standard queue and follow the signs when you reach the boarding area. A host or hostess will direct your party in boarding.

THE LAND

Attractions on the lower level of the building can be accessed by using the elevator to the left of the Garden Grill Restaurant.

"The Circle of Life" (Theater presentation)
Guests may remain in wheelchairs or ECVs to experience the attraction.
Proceed through the standard entrance. A host or hostess can direct you to designated seating areas.

Living with the Land (Slow-moving boat ride)
Guests using wheelchairs should proceed directly to the wheelchair loading area located behind the staircase. Guests using Electric Convenience Vehicles will need to transfer to a standard wheelchair that will be provided at the boarding area.

Behind the Seeds - A Special Guided Greenhouse Tour (Tour time - 60 min.)
Guests must transfer from ECVs to available wheelchairs to experience the attraction.
Reservations for this tour are taken at the podium near the Green Thumb Emporium on the lower level of The Land. Guests using Electric Convenience Vehicles will be required to transfer to a standard wheelchair that will be provided at the beginning of the tour.

The Garden Grill Restaurant (Table service)
The top level of the restaurant is accessible to Guests using wheelchairs.

THE LIVING SEAS

The Living Seas (Film presentation & exhibits)
Guests may remain in wheelchairs or ECVs to experience the attraction.
Proceed through the standard queue. After the film presentation, Guests board hydrolators to descend into the aquarium. A short ride takes Guests from the hydrolator area to Sea Base Alpha. Guests unable to transfer to the ride vehicles can be directed by a host or hostess to the bypass route to Sea Base Alpha.
NOTE: Guests using Electric Convenience Vehicles are encouraged to park them outside or transfer to an available wheelchair.

Various areas of the dining room are accessible to Guests using wheelchairs. Please see a host or hostess for assistance. Priority seating is suggested.

Friendship Boats
Guests may remain in wheelchairs or ECVs to experience the attraction.
Boat transportation across the World Showcase Lagoon. Boat docks are located at World Showcase Plaza and at Germany and Morocco. Contact a host or hostess for boarding.

WORLD SHOWCASE

MEXICO

Guests may access the pavilion through the side door located to the right of the main entrance.

El Rió del Tiempo (Slow-moving boat ride)
Guests must transfer from ECVs to available wheelchairs to experience the attraction.
Proceed through the exit of the attraction. A host or hostess at the dock will direct boarding. Guests utilizing Electric Convenience Vehicles will need to transfer to a standard wheelchair that will be provided upon request by the host or hostess at the boarding area.

NORWAY

Maelstrom (Turbulent boat ride)
Guests must be able to transfer from wheelchairs to board the attraction.
Proceed through any exterior queue. A host or hostess will direct you upon entering the building. In this attraction, Guests must negotiate two steps as they board the boat and disembark. Guests will move rapidly up a steep incline in a Viking boat that later turns and moves backward before turning and facing forward again to go down a short, steep waterfall. If an emergency evacuation of this ride is required, Guests must maneuver through stairwells or wait to be evacuated.

The American Adventure (Theater presentation)

Contact the host/hostess at the entrance to gain access to the second floor via an elevator. This theater can accommodate 14 wheelchairs per show.

Teppanyaki Dining Rooms, Tempura Kiku & Matsu No Ma Lounge (Table service)
Guests can access the second-level dining areas by using the elevator to the left of the front entrance of the Mitsukoshi department store.

Yakitori House (Counter service)
Guests can access the Yakitori House via the pathway behind the Pagoda.

FRANCE

"Impressions de France" (Film presentation)
Guests may remain in wheelchairs or ECVs to experience the attraction.
Enter through the left side of the entrance hallway. A host/hostess will direct you to seating.

All shops are wheelchair-accessible, except the upper level of the Crown & Crest.

Rose & Crown Pub
Restrooms inside the pub cannot accommodate electric convenience vehicles (ECVs). Guests using ECVs should use the restrooms located across the street to the right of the Toy Soldier.

CANADA

"O Canada!" (Film presentation)
Guests may remain in wheelchairs or ECVs to experience the attraction
Access to the theater is via the path to the far right side of the pavilion, past the Le Cellier Steakhouse. Contact a host/hostess for admittance. Because of the unique 360-degree format of this presentation, Guests may experience the sensation of movement.
