Extra Magic Hour Reviews

My experience of EMH (evening) was excellent!

Forget the books IMHO. What happened on the nights we were there..

The parks started to thin out after the fireworks (at mk for example) and the EMH hours started to kick in. For about 30mins or so maybe, the crowd stayed steady but CMs started asking to see the EMH wristband before letting people on the rides and shortly after the crowds thinned out AGAIN leaving just EMH people.

Queues were DEFINITELY shorter no doubt about it and many things were walk on or close to it. As the night went on, crowds got less and less.

MK was SO wonderful, best I've ever seen it, as was the transport back. Not only that, but the rides at night brought a new dimension to many of them.

Definitely don't let the books put you off. Disney park attendance is too complex and depends on too many variables for anyone to just say "avoid monday"

There are biq queues particularly in FantasyLand and Tomorrowland in the Magic Kingdom so you should make use of EMH to reduce the time you will spend in the queues. 60 mins for Peter Pan flight! (that's a 2 min ride by the way). I prefer the morning EMH as you can do the big rides with a relatively quiet park and get the fast passes. Late night EMH has the problem that the parks are busy and the fast passes have run out and so you will not see much of a reduction in queues for the first hour of a 3 hour evening EMH. So if a park closes at 11pm the queues won't reduce until 12 midnight. Not much point turning up at 9pm for rides - better to turn up after EMH has started and spend the early evening elsewhere at a show/parade or shopping. Having said that you should still make use of an evening EMH as you will see the park in a different light - Tomorrowland obviously looks better with all its neon lights illuminated. Evening EMH will also enable you to get lots of rides done in a relatively short time leaving more time on your next day visit to do other things.

We have gone to every E NIGHT in the past during every stay(the original EMH at the magic Kingdom) They were always fun, and the first hour is always usualy a little crowded but as the night goes on, and if it is a rainy night, there is noone in the parks. we once went on space mountain 8 times without getting out of the car, snce there was noone waiting to go on they let us go around!!!

We did the evening EMH at MK and MGM. We only stayed an hour and the crowds were bad and the lines were just about as long as during the day. I don't know if the crowds thinned out later or not as we went home. I think we were more disappointed because we were told that with EMH the parks would be empty and we would be able to walk on any rides so we put off more of the popular rides for EMH which was a big mistake. We should have gotten fast passes during the day. We would have been better off. But like I said I only stayed an hour so maybe they get better later. Just don't go with the intention of "walking on every ride" as you will probably be disappointed.
