Disney Adventures -- Enjoy special family programs facilitated Disney style:
Sun 'N Fun: Delight in the warm Florida sunshine and swim in the Atlantic Ocean or rest and rejuvenate under a beach umbrella or cabana.
Pool Area: Slip down Pirate's Plunge, a 163-foot spiral water slide, or splash with the kids on the Pirate Ship wet deck.
Miniature Golf: Challenge your friends and family to a round on our nine hole miniature-golf course.
Watersports: Enjoy the thrills of Wave Ventures, kayaks, hobie cats, and other water sports.
Turtle Patrol: Experience a guided turtle watch -- a three-hour program that includes an informative slide presentation about the sea turtles' annual migration to the shores of Florida's east coast, immediately followed by a guided walk along the Resort's beach to witness the miracle of these gentle creatures laboring to build their nests. Offered June through July; space is limited.
Jungle Trail Bike Adventure: Cycle on a tropical 7-mile bike adventure along the Indian River Lagoon.
Tennis: Learn special techniques from the Resort tennis pro. Tennis activities include round robins, private and family lessons, and an opportunity to challenge the pro. By appointment only.
Stargazing: Join our recreation astronomy guide for a telescopic tour of the stars. Offered seasonally.
Campfire: Four nights a week, guests gather by our campfire to roast marshmallows, make s'mores, and join in sing-alongs.
Other Fun Activities: Two-on-two basketball, tug-of-war, volleyball, horseshoes, scavenger hunt, swim clinic, crafts, Blinker's Arcade, bingo, balloon toss, archery, and our own Very Merry Unbirthday Party, animation cel painting, SnorkelEars, and tot-time crafts.

Supervised Children's Activities

Disney Discovery Club (2Dc) consists of supervised "edutainment" programs that give kids an opportunity to discover, create, and explore, with the evening programs including dinner.
Themed Evening Programs: Sports activities that include nontraditional volleyball, soccer, games, races, and many surprises. To top the night off, we celebrate at an open campfire, singing songs, roasting marshmallows, and making s'mores.
2Dc Aquaventures at the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution: Located on 500 acres along the Indian River Lagoon, this working laboratory offers unique insight into our oceans. Educational exhibits and aquariums provide visitors of all ages with an opportunity to learn more about today's marine technology.

ENJOY AREA ACTIVITIES

Manatee Watch: See one of Florida's most loved endangered species firsthand at the Manatee Observation Center.
Adam's Ranch: Visit a real working Florida cattle ranch and tour the grounds, then end the day with a barbecue.
Tink's Treasure Trove: Visit and tour Mel Fisher's Treasure Museum and experience the history of the "Treasure Coast" firsthand. Then come back and comb the beach with a metal detector in search of your own treasure!
Kayaking: Enjoy a peaceful four-hour cruise down the river, where you can see a variety of wildlife, including dolphins, manatees, and many types of birds.
Dodgertown: This is the spring-training home of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Watch the Dodgers in action, enjoy top-notch play from the Vero Beach Dodgers April through August, and visit with sports legends at this famous 450-acre complex. Dodgertown also includes two golf courses, a conference center, a country club, and a full range of recreational facilities.
Golf: There are many challenging courses for the avid golfer, including six public courses and 14 private courses in the area. Local golf courses with which the Resort has special arrangements and rates include the Sandridge Golf Course (public), the Dodger Pines Country Club (semiprivate), Aquarina (semiprivate), and the Indian River Club (private).
Fishing: This area offers some of the best fishing around, whether it's offshore sportfishing for sailfish, king mackerel, or wahoo, or river fishing for tarpon, trout, snook, and redfish. Guest Services can book your fishing trip with the best local fishing guides -- at reduced prices.
Shopping: There is no shortage of shopping areas in Indian River County. You'll find the Indian River Mall (featuring The Disney Store and a 24-screen AMC theater), specialty boutiques beachside, and Prime Outlets at Vero Beach, which offer more than 75 designer-outlet stores.
River Cruises: Enjoy the scenic Indian River on one of several area cruise boats, from an intimate six-person sailboat with dinner to a 49-passenger pontoon boat to a two-decker river paddleboat cruise. See manatees, white pelicans, and dolphins.
Treasure Museums: Mel Fisher and McLarty Treasure Museums offer Guests a view of the many splendors treasure hunters have retrieved from shipwrecks along the Florida coast.
Riverside Theater: Located at the Civic Arts Center in Riverside Park, this 633-seat theater provides Broadway plays, musical groups, nationally known artists, and productions by The Acting Company of Riverside Theater, its own in-house theatrical group.

Dining and Entertainment

Shutters Restaurant - Great food for the whole family! Shutters, a casual restaurant, offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a unique resort setting and features an astounding exhibition kitchen. Serving the freshest, finest seafood entrees this side of the Atlantic, Shutters also features a wood-burning grill and brick pizza oven. Breakfast served 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Lunch served 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dinner served 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Sonya's Fine Steaks and Chops - This exquisite restaurant is the perfect place to enjoy an intimate dinner at Disney's Vero Beach Resort. Open every evening from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sonya's also features a sensational Sunday brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Enjoy a variety of tempting fare, from smoked seafood and diverse breakfast dishes to house-baked pastries and gourmet dessert selections. Priority seating arrangements are suggested.

Bleacher's Bar and Grill - Hamburgers, hot dogs, subs, and salads are just some of the fun foods available poolside at Bleacher's Bar & Grill. Adults and kids will enjoy the coolest selection of tropical drinks at this quick-service hot spot. Open daily, weather permitting. Seasonal hours.

Green Cabin Room - This treasured spot is sure to become one of your favorite places here at Disney's Vero Beach Resort. Whether you are taking time to indulge in one of our themed drink specials, a specialty coffee, or our own locally microbrewed beer, you will be captivated by the extraordinary view of the Atlantic Ocean and its tranquil surroundings. A sensational lunch and appetizer menu is served daily from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Stop by The Green Cabin Room -- it's the perfect before-and-after-dinner spot. Open daily 11 a.m. to midnight.

Character Breakfast - Join Goofy and Max for breakfast every Saturday! They, too, love coming here to vacation at the beach, and they enjoy starting their day with you. Priority seating is recommended for this magical event.

"Typical Disney Loads of smiling happy faces, clean 'Disney' rooms, microwave, two double beds, bathroom and spotlessly clean! swimming pool is fantastic for kids, with free swimming lessons, putting green, galleon play area. The private beach has nesting tutles and is owned and managed by Disney. Hence its spotlessly clean and looks like 'we', the english would dream an American beach lokks like. Beach houses have verandors looking out over the sands and steps leading down onto the beach. This is a sleepy town, with little to do other than visit the outlet mall and sun bathe. Eating in the hotel is far more expensive than Orlando hotels, breakfast cost Ł35 for four. Paradise! dining: expensive! No very expensive!" John Hill
