Disabilities FAQ

Can I hire a wheelchair or ECV at Disney World?
Yes. ECVs can be hired for $30 (+ $10 deposit) for a day at the four main parks. Wheelchairs can also be hired for $6 (+ $1 deposit).
ECVs and wheelchairs are available for hire at Downtown Disney. ECVs cost $8 an hour, with a two hour minimum and $30 maximum. You must leave a credit card for deposit. Wheelchairs are also available and cost $6, but a $100 deposit must be left.
Wheelchairs are available for hire at the three water parks.

What happens if I leave the park and go to another park?
ECVs and wheelchairs can only be used in the Park where you rented them. Guests planning to visit more than one Park on the same day should retain their wheelchair deposit ticket from the first park they visit. This will enable them to obtain a replacement wheelchair on the same day, if available, at the next Park at no additional charge. Wheelchairs or ECVs may not be available at the second Park.

Can I reserve an ECV or wheelchair at the parks?
No, reservations are not accepted. ECVs and wheelchairs are rented out on a first-come, first-served basis.

Can I take my ECV/wheelchair on Disney buses?
Most buses now have wheelchair lifts fitted, towards the back of the bus. Certain ECVs may be too long to fit on the lift. ECVs and wheelchairs will be strapped in place once on the bus. When the bus stops, make it clear to the driver that you wish to board the bus.

Where can I charge my ECV battery in the parks?
Many attractions & restaurants have electrical outlets for recharging your ECV during the day, just ask a cast member.

I've heard that people using ECVs can't use the boat transportation on the Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake (from the MK resorts to the MK)
The water levels of Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake vary, and the water level may not be high enough for you to board the boat on an ECV. In this case you would have to use alternative transport.

I'm from the UK and have an orange (or white) disabled badge, can I use this to park at WDW?
Yes. Just show your orange badge to parking officials as you go through the main entrance, you will be directed to the end of the parking spaces so that you are close to the tram to take you to the main gate. Those in wheelchairs go straight to the main entrance. Thanks to BR Simpson for this information.
