It's "Otium Cum Dignitate" at the Rose & Crown Pub
and Dining Room, and if "leisure with dignity" isn't your idea of
a good time, the Bass ale and Guinness stout should bring you around.
There's cottage pie and prime rib on the menu, and the authentic
Harry Ramsden's fish and chips is featured in a new kiosk.
The Rose & Crown is a jubilant replica of the pubs
that have become a mainstay of British life. Traditional English
fare is prepared with piquant perfection. And the cheery atmosphere,
accented at times by a jolly English sing-along from the bar in
the next room, lends authenticity to every inch of the place. It
all makes you want to lift up your pint and say cheers.
Desserts are a royal treat: sherry trifle, a traditional
dessert of fruit and custard cake big enough for two; raspberry
fool, whipped cream and crushed raspberries over shortbread; and
apple blackberry crumble, served with sherry custard.

"We were seated immediately without reservations
as we arrived at the pub's opening. Food and service was excellent,
and I would love to get that mustard vinaigrette receipe! The fish
and chips were perect and apparently the most popular item on the
menu. We cannot wait to go back there." (12/03) Lynn Arroyo
"We've eaten at the Rose and Crown several times,
and recommend it highly. We've never had anything there that we
didn't just love. Wonderful fish and chips, fantastic prime rib,
but my favorite thing of all is the mushroom appetizer. It is simply
heavenly, and so rich. I would pay money to have this recipe! If
you can, try to sit out by the lake and get a fantastic view of
Illuminations. Service is uniformly great; very friendly staff."

"This is one of my favorite places to have dinner
in the World Showcase. I've never waited beyond 10 minutes to be
seated with or without a priority seating. The servers are consistently
friendly and well informed with regard to the menu selections.
I absolutely love the bangers and mash and usually order it each
time I go. The lemon posset for dessert makes for a nice finish.
Other menu selections I've tried are the prime rib which was very
good, the sampler platter which was too much food for one person,
but very good, and the fish and chips, good, but not my favorite.
I find the prices reasonable for a WDW restaurant.
The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, whether dining indoors or
outside. Although, when Pam Brody is entertaining indoors, sing-a-longs
are the order of the evening! Outside seating is a favorite place
from which the nightly fireworks show, Illuminations, is viewed.
he Rose and Crown is pretty much a guarantee for good food, friendly
servers, and wonderful atmosphere." OKWTink
"We were seated quickly. We had 7:40 ps and were
seated at 7:15. The service was very good. We sat outside to see
Illuminations. Perfect seats for that! The food was a little overpriced.
A fruit platter was $7 I think, for a piece of apple, a small cluster
of grapes, and 2 peices of cheese. We had the fish and chips which
were good. My daughter had a lamb special. She liked it, but it
was very strong and cost $25. SOme special! We would not go back
here to eat again. It just wasn't worth the $$$." Angela
"I've eaten at the Rose & Crown twice. Both times
the food was outstanding. We had priority seating for both visits
as well. The first time we went in June 1997, we requested priority
seating on the porch. If you are willing to wait a little longer,
they are sometimes able to accommodate you. From this vantage point,
we had a seat for Illuminations. That was certainly a highlight
of that trip and made the food seem that much better. In Sept. 2000,
we ate much earlier in the evening, but we were still able to eat
overlooking the water and the rest of the World Showcase. Service
was excellent and the fish and chips just melted in your mouth."
