Les Chefs de France

The newly expanded restaurant has a bright, airy feel, with yellow & cream coloured walls drenched in natural light.

With the lively atmosphere of an authentic brasserie along the Rue de Seine, the celebrated Chefs de France restaurant has a whole new look and a new attitude.

Rather than a Louis XV Palais Royale feeling, the new, more spacious room seems more suited to Hemingway or Scott Fitzgerald with a new, more colorful mosaic tile floor and Toulouse Latrec-era murals picturing scenes in famous brasseries on walls and ceilings.

Gastronomic creations of its three famous owner-chefs, Paul Bocuse, Gaston Lenotre and Roger Verge, are featured. Their gourmet restaurants in Lyon, Paris and Cote d’ Azur are known around the world as the epitome of French cooking.

While retaining its Belle Epoque exterior styling, the Chefs de France has quadrupled in size, incorporating the outdoor dining area formerly known as Au Petite Cafe. French windows swing open to let in the sounds of sidewalk musicians during most days.

Tables and banquettes are arranged for a better view of the quay-side promenade and the popular nighttime "IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth" spectacular on the World Showcase Lagoon. The dining area is surrounded on three sides by large windows giving it a much lighter and brighter feeling, and two rows of rectangular columns were removed to give a more open feeling.

"We were seated at our priority time and had a table one row away from the front windows which was fun. The menu was diverse and not as expensive as we were anticipating. The service was good, our meal was excellent and the house wine was good and reasonable as well. During the fireworks, the waiters came and opened the casement windows so we could see and hear the fireworks-a charming touch. We were pleased with our evening and would not hesitate to go back." "My parents and I had lunch here in May 2002 and 2000. Both times we had a PS and were seated right away. The setting is very nice. If you have a choice, ask to sit in the side room, as I think it is very cozy and it overlooks the French shops, so it is good for people watching! In 2000, we had an excellent server. He was very friendly, efficient, and very happy to tell us about himself, how he liked working at DW and about his home in France. In 2002, our waitress seemed a little overwhelmed by how many tables she had and wasn't nearly as attentive. She wasn't bad, though. The food here is really good. In 2002, we all started with the lobster bisque, which we thought was pretty good, but not nearly as good as it is at Coral Reef. I had the vegetable lasagna, my mom had the croque monsieur and my dad had the salmon. It was all so good that, unfortunately, we didn't have room for dessert. In 2000, I had the salade nicoise, my mom had the quiche lorraine and my dad had the croque monsieur. Again, there were no complaints, and that time we did have dessert - chocolate mousse cake for me, creme brulee for dad and cheesecake for mom. My recommendation is: save room for dessert! You won't be disappointed." Shane

"I LOVED this restaurant! We were a party of 2 with a priority seating for 2pm on Memorial Day weekend. The service was impeccable, the food was delicious, and the desserts were to die for! I had read some reviews about this restaurant that were negative and after eating there I can't imagine that anyone did not enjoy it! I had the chicken with wild mushrooms over basil mashed potatoes, with a glass of chardonnay, and the cake of the day for dessert which was the peach melba. My boyfri e nd had the chicken crepe and the suggested wine and for dessert the chocolate mousse over "coconut soup." We both enjoyed the meal entirely and talked about it for the next 4 days! Being 24 we are often faced with nice restarants that give us poor service just because we are younger and they think we can't tip well. Not the case here! Enjoy Les Chefs de France! You won't be sorry! " (5/02) Chris

"This was our second time at France. We really had a good experience the first time. This time was not so. The service was the worst we have ever had at Disney. Our Waitress spent 15 minutes talking to one table while the rest of her tables were waiting for wine, appetizers, or entrees. The gentleman next to us finally interrupted her conversation and asked for his check. He had had it. On top of that they had to send back their soup which was cold and meat that was undercooked. She tried to blame the kitchen. The gentleman complained to the manager and we saw her spoken to so we didn't say anything. Don't go here if you are in a hurry." (4/02) Jill

"We did not have PS for dinner. My husband, son and myself walked in and were seated immediately (7:00). Our server was wonderful. The meal was amazing. It was our first time there and we went there another 2 times in the nest 4 days. We are going again and it is at the top of our list. Atmosphere was wonderful." Trish

"The night we ate at Chef's De France it was packed to the rafters! Although we had a wonderful meal that evening, several diners around us experienced problems with their orders, their servers, the bill. One family left upset and totally dissatisfied. Although the manager arrived at their table, it appeared that the problem didn't get resolved. The family on the other side of us waited quite a while for their server to appear. Then they waited again for their food to arrive. The server was nearly impossible to understand. The restaurant was extremely noisy. There was the constant sound of glassware being dropped and broken. You couldn't hold a conversation without practically yelling. I think many of the problems stemmed from the fact that many of the families there had chosen the restaurant as part of their Candlelight Processional dinner package and didn't understand how the package worked. I also don't think all of the staff understood either! I would give Chef' s De France another try, but not during the holidays." Donna Brewer
