St. Maarten Shore Excursions

 

In St. Maarten, the ship docks in the capital, Phillipsburg , just minutes away from the clear turquoise water and white sands of the island's famed pristine beaches. You may book shore excursions to experience a 12-meter regatta to race aboard a world-class America's Cup boat, snorkel at the uninhabited Pinel Island, experience certified SCUBA diving, kayak on a saltwater lagoon, try your hand at sport fishing, or enjoy tours deep within the island and witness the history of this wondrous place including area mountain ranges, try your hand at the island's eight casinos, delight in a butterfly farm, hike and bike through mountain paths and along the seashore, golf at one of the Caribbean's most challenging courses, and scale Paradise Peak, the highest point on the island rising 1500 feet above the sea.

All excursion prices are subject to change without notice. Children under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult on excursions.

 

Pinel Island Snorkel Tour (3.5 hours)

After a scenic bus ride to the northeast French coast, you’ll take a water taxi for a short transfer to beautiful Pinel Island . After receiving snorkeling instruction and equipment, you’ll have 1.5 hours to enter the fascinating world of coral reefs inhabited by tropical fish in shallow or deep water. You may also explore this tiny uninhabited island, swim or sunbathe, visit the boutiques, or purchase cool drinks from local vendors.

Child Price: $30 (ages 5-9)

Shipwreck Cove Snorkel Tour (3.5 hours)

Experience the snorkeling adventure of a lifetime at Shipwreck Cove, where you can hand-feed the colorful array of fish that inhabit the cove’s sunken ships and coral reefs for approximately 1.5 hours. Tour is conducted off a boat. Beginners can enjoy this adventure. All snorkeling equipment and refreshments are provided. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR NON-SWIMMERS.

Golden Eagle Catamaran (4 – 4.5 hours)

Come sail away across the sparkling Caribbean on a catamaran for a pleasure-filled trip of swimming, snorkeling (equipment provided) and sunbathing. Light snacks and an open bar are included.

Departure Time: 7:45 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

 

12-Metre Regatta (3 hours)

This excursion will put the wind in your sails! As a crew member, you’ll be trained to grind a winch, trim a sail or punch a stopwatch--or just sit back and relax as you race around a shortened version of the course in vessels that actually competed in the America ’s Cup. No sailing experience is necessary.

Island Drive & Explorer Cruise (4 hours)

Explore the shore and more! After a scenic transfer to Simpson's Bay Lagoon, you’ll board the Explorer for a 30-minute cruise to Marigot, the island’s French capital. Enjoy sightseeing and shopping, before your scenic return to Phillipsburg , the Dutch capital.

Under 2 Flags Island Tour (3 hours)

Discover the two different worlds of St. Maarten—the French and Dutch sides are as distinctively different as their European counterparts. You’ll experience a scenic narrated bus tour of both sides of the island, then enjoy a stop at the French capital, Marigot, where you can shop and explore the local marketplace and seaside cafes.

French Riviera Beach Rendezvous (5 hours)

Ooh la la! Beach lovers won’t want to miss this trip to Orient Bay , acclaimed as the "French Riviera of the Caribbean " with more than 1 ½ miles of white-sand beach, fringed with swaying coconut palms. En route to this beautiful beach, your guide will provide an interesting narrative and a brief history of the island. Upon your arrival, you'll be welcomed with a complimentary beverage, then enjoy a delicious full-service lunch. Afterwards, relax on the shore in your specially reserved beach chair.

St.Maarten Island & Butterfly Farm Tour (3.5 – 4 hours)

Beauty and wonder take wing after a narrated tour bus takes you from Philipsburg to the Butterfly Farm in the French Quarter. Here, you’ll observe exotic butterfly species in this rare environment. From the farm, you’ll head to the quaint village of Marigot to enjoy its sidewalk cafes, open-air markets and duty-free shopping.

See & Sea Island Tour (3.5 – 4 hours)

Explore both surf and turf on this exciting excursion. After a narrated bus ride to Grand Case, you’ll get a fish-eye view of St. Martin ’s underwater beauty on the Seaworld Explorer, a semi submarine. Afterwards, the excursion continues on dry land with approximately an hour of shopping and sightseeing in the quaint French town of Marigot .

Lagoon Kayaking Tour (3.5 – 4 hours)

Paddle your way to a fun-filled day among nature’s wonders. After a narrated bus tour, you’ll take a 1-person kayak for approximately a 1.5 – 2 hour journey across the largest saltwater lagoon in the Antilles , Simpson Bay Lagoon. Throughout the tour, your guide will point out features of interest, including the invisible aquatic “border” that marks the French side of the lagoon --no passports required! Along the way, you'll want to keep an eye out for the variety of marine life and sea birds that make their home among the mangroves that line the shore. After a brief rest stop at Explorer Island , you'll continue to a white-sand beach for time to relax, swim and enjoy a refreshing beverage for approximately 20 minutes.

St. Maarten Certified Scuba (4 hours)

Get ready to take the plunge at some of St. Maarten’s most famous dive sights, where certified divers can explore beautiful coral formations teeming with an abundance of colorful fish. In order to participate in this dive, you must present your dive certification card and have completed at least one dive in the last 2 years.

Lotterie Farm Hidden Forest Tour (4.5 – 5 hours)

This trip's a winner! If you’re a hiking enthusiast, put on your walking shoes and board an air-conditioned bus on your way to Lotterie Farm Hidden Forest , where your guide will introduce you to the wonders that await in the wilderness. This challenging hike takes approximately 1 1/2 hours along a trail before emerging from a hidden canyon and on up to the heights of Pic Paradise. After your hike, enjoy a sumptuous buffet lunch at the Hidden Forest open-air restaurant. Then, after a brief stop at the island’s French capital of Marigot to visit the famous marketplace, it’s time to return to the ship or, upon request, to Philipsburg for shopping (if you choose to shop, you’ll need to arrange to get back to the ship on your own).

Rhino Rider & Snorkeling Adventure (3 – 3.5 hours)

You'll be riding on air! After an air-conditioned bus ride to Simpson Bay Lagoon, your guide will help you get acquainted with your 2-person inflatable vessel, which you will be sharing with another guest. Then it's all aboard to travel along the coastline, then out to open sea. After a brief pause to take in views of Marigot and Fort St. Louis , you'll follow your guide to a splendid snorkeling spot where you can swim for approximately 45 minutes among the marine life before returning to the lagoon. Relax after your journey at one of the island's best-known watering holes with a complimentary beverage.

Note: Participants should be in good physical condition. Not recommended for individuals with bad backs and for those who do not swim. Pregnant women may not participate in this tour. Mountain Bike Adventure (3.5 hours)

This tour will take you to new heights of adventure! After an air-conditioned bus ride to the French capital of Marigot and a safety orientation, you’ll be ready to bike! During your ride, you’ll experience on- and off-road biking along stunning coastlines, down an exhilarating trail and through the rural village of Colombier . Your ride will finish at the beautiful, secluded cove of Friar's Bay Beach , where you will have approximately 30 minutes to relax, sun or swim while refreshing with a complimentary beverage.

Observer, Anguilla Dolphin and Stingray Encounter (7 – 7.5 hours)

It’s a close encounter of the aquatic kind! After a fun-filled 45-minute boat ride to Anguilla , take a 10-minute jaunt to Dolphin Fantaseas for your see-worthy adventure! First, you'll enter the water for a chance to feed and touch (stingless) stingrays, and then it’s time for your dolphin encounter! You'll be able to swim, interact with and feed these friendly marine mammals while learning fascinating facts about them. There will be plenty of photo opportunities, so don't forget your camera (underwater cameras are not allowed in the water). And, for a perfect ending to a memorable morning, you'll have time for fun and sun on the beach at beautiful Meads Bay , where you'll enjoy an authentic Caribbean barbecue lunch.
