The Deluxe Resorts at Walt Disney World offer 'concierge' service.
These are basically higher priced standard rooms with access to
a private lounge where snacks are served throughout the day. Cast
Members are usually on hand in teh concierge lounges to offer guests
help with vacation planning, and making priority seating arrangements
for you. Sometimes (this is by no way guaranteed), they may be
able to secure you a priority seating reservation at a restaurant/character
meal that is 'booked up'.
The concierge rooms are only accessible by room key, so that guests
not staying in a concierge room can't get into the concierge lounge.
Soom may be on a separate floor, some in a separate building.
Obviously, this service comes at a higher price than a standard
room. For example, a standard room during regular season at Animal
Kingdom Lodge during 2004 would cost $239, whereas a concierge
room would cost $480. Quite a difference! The good news is that
it is possible to get discounts on them, the bad news is that they
may not always be available and often sell out fast. Keep a close
eye on our Resort Discount page, and message boards for any new
discounts. Annual Passholder rates have been available recently
for just $249 regular season Animal Kingdom Lodge concierge room.
So, is it worth paying so much extra for a concierge room?
Opinions differ, so read some of the reviews on the pages listed below. Generally,
I'd say if you were traveling alone, then no, it's not worth it. If you have
4 or 5 staying in one room, you eat breakfast in the concierge lounge, make
use of the planning services, take the free bottles of water offered, and
like the extra pampering, then yes, it can be worth it.
