"Just got back from 2 weeks at GF RPC. It was great. We had
4th fl. facing the pool, just as we requested. THe room was clean,
bright & cheery. Double sinks outgside the bathroom, large
fluffy towels and great body lotion, as well as shampoo/conditioner,cotton
balls,q-tips & shower caps, daily. No toothpaste/toothbrush,
although the CR resort has them. The ervice was wonderful. THe
staff very friendly and helpful. The food servings were great.
The morn. we had various donuts, crousants, cereals, jellies, bagels, toast, frui
t,teas,milk. Afternoon was flatbreads, cheeses,dips,crackers,cookies,lemonades,sodas(but
you had to ask for them), water, breadsticks, coffee, teas,& flavored syrups
for the coffee.
Evening was diff. most days. They served stuffed turkey breast, salad, cheese, crackers.
One day they had roasted duck. Stuffed mussels another day.
Late evening was delecious pastries, chocolate covered strawberries, liquier,.
I know there was much more then I mentiioned, but I can't remember all of it.
The staff saw that my dh, and dd asked for soda a few times, so she gave us
2-6packs of diet coke, a few 7-ups, water and even some apple juice cans for
us for our room. They supply all that in the mini-bar, but she gave it to us
anyway. There was alot of reviews that the GF wasn't that good anymore. I have
to disagree, we had a great time. The concierge was just wonderful. They scheduled
a last min. spa treatment for me and a manicure/pedicure for my daughter. And
they constantly asked if we needed any help with anything. It truly was a great
resort." (7/03) Denise

Our stay at the Grand Floridian came about because that is where I wanted to
stay for my 50th birthday. My husband and I were both very excited about
the visit and the opportunity to stay there.
When we checked in we were offered a free night at the Animal
Kingdom Lodge and transportation to the Lodge, for our first night.
However, my husband told them that I really wanted to spend my
vacation at the Grand Floridian. With that, the desk clerk told
us that we had been upgraded to Concierge Level in the main building!
We were on the 3rd floor, room 4329. Our room was beautiful -
and perfect - right down to the smallest detail. It was clean,
very new looking, and spotless. However, it was small, considering
the size of the rooms we have had at other Disney World resorts.
I had really expected the rooms to be larger, given the price.
And knowing the cost of the room (we had gotten the room at contract,
or overflow rates through Shades of Green), there is NO way we'd
ever pay full price for that room or for the "privilege" of
staying at the Grand Floridian. Yes, the resort is beautiful and
wonderful, but it's a bit overpriced.
Having the ability to walk out to the concierge desk and have
things done for you (I had my dress pressed, we PS'd restaurants,
got directions, etc.) is a nice feature. Again, though, not worth
the extra cost.
This resort has some of the finest dining you'll ever encounter.
While on this visit we dined at 1900 Park Fare for both breakfast
and dinner, Victoria and Albert's for my birthday, and at Narcoosee.
We also had afternoon tea in the Garden View Lounge. We love dining
at the Grand Floridian!
Having said that, I wouldn't stay at this resort for the food
on it's concierge level. I've read reviews about other resorts
and the offerings on concierge level. Given that the Grand Floridian
is the "Flagship" resort, I was disappointed with what
concierge level had to offer.
The Grand Floridian is a wonderfully beautiful resort! It is
remarkable to look at when you are taking the launch to the Magic
Kingdom! An air of casual luxury. And it is absolutely beautiful
during the holidays!
I'm glad we had the opportunity to stay at this resort, and I
hope we have the chance to stay there again sometime when we can
get good rates.
However, the bus service to MGM, Downtown Disney, and the Animal
Kingdom left a LOT to be desired. Monorails run quickly and efficiently,
but the bus service is horribly slow. One morning we waited 1/2
hour for a bus. The next morning we waited 45 minutes! Even the
launches run more quickly than the buses seemed to run." Donna
