Rich Taylor is vice president of Walt Disney entertainment and costuming
at the Walt Disney World Resort. He is responsible and accountable for
leading the team of more than 4,700 that envisions, creates, develops,
produces and operates all new live entertainment for the world’s No.
1 tourist destination.
Taylor joined the company in 1980 and has held 14 different management
positions, including corporate director of creative development and
communications, manager of special events, manager of creative development
and communications, manager of creative show development, division manager
of talent casting and resources for Walt Disney World creative entertainment,
and director of entertainment for Disneyland Paris, where he headed
the conceptual creative design and show development group.
Prior to joining Disney, Taylor spent 10 years with Fred Waring Pennsylvanians
as featured soloist, choral singer, and conductor. He also served as
assistant producer/director and press and publicity director for “The
Fred Waring Show.” In 2001, he began his 33rd year in show business.
Taylor is a board member of Orlando’s Southern Ballet Theater and has
served on the board of directors and strategic planning committee for
“Fred Waring’s America” (Penn State University), the board of directors
of The Orlando Center for the Humanities, and on the board of directors
of The Orlando Opera Company. He is a member of The American Choral
Directors Association and The Music Educators National Conference and
serves on the Board of Advisors for “America Sings” in Washington, D.C.
He is the past president of the Fine Arts Council for The First Academy
in Orlando.
A native of Enid, Okla., Taylor received his bachelor of fine arts
degree from the University of Oklahoma where he was named the University’s
Outstanding Graduating Senior of 1972. In the spring of 1994, the University
of Oklahoma College of Fine Arts honored Taylor with its “Distinguished
Alumni Award.” Taylor received the prestigious Regents Alumni Award
in the fall of 1997, recognizing his service to the University and his
accomplishments in the community, the state of Oklahoma, and the nation.
In 1998, he received the Media Fellowship International’s coveted Ambassador’s
Award. In May 1999, he presented the commencement address for the College
of Fine Arts at University of Oklahoma.
In September 1996, 1998 and 2000, Taylor was a judge for the Miss America
Pageant in Atlantic City, N.J. In January 2000, he was executive producer
and, together with the Walt Disney World entertainment team, produced
the spectacular Super Bowl XXXIV Half Time extravaganza.
Taylor is married to entertainer Andy Everroad Taylor, and they are
proud parents of two active teen-agers, Blake William and Zane Jarrett.
