Ever wondered what gardening secrets lie beneath the soil at The
Land in Epcot? Then go "Behind the Seeds" for a walking
tour of the pavilion's labs and greenhouses. The hour-long tour
gives visitors the chance to explore the aeroponic gardens where
plants suspended from ceilings grow without soil (they're sprayed
with the nutrients they need to thrive).
At the vegetable production house, plants travel up
strings in a vertical field to maximize both growing space and air
circulation. In the tropical greenhouse, guests will see rice, sugarcane,
and even a nine-pound, soccer-ball-size lemon. Finally there's the
Aquacell with it's edible aquaculture. Be careful where you wander:
One of the delicacies growing here is the tasty American alligator.
