Creature-Themed Wares Are the Lion’s Share At Disney’s Animal Kingdom Shops

A shopping safari through Disney’s Animal Kingdom is an adventure in itself. Discover the carved animal-themed backscratchers and soapstone and wood carvings. Don’t miss stryracosaurus and other dinosaur replicas straight from the DINOSAUR thrill ride, or a tropical new line of kid’s clothing.

The 3,700 specially created merchandise items at Disney’s Animal Kingdom reflect the overriding theme of the park -- a celebration of animals.

The merchandise depicts all of the park “animals,” whether they are Disney, dinosaurs or real.

Environmentally friendly conservation messages also are evident throughout the merchandise locations at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. At each register guests can contribute to the Disney Wildlife Conservation Fund by adding a dollar to a purchase. Or they can buy a shopping bag, and the proceeds will go toward conservation. Penny press machines featuring the Disney Wildlife Conservation Fund logo are located throughout the park with proceeds supporting wildlife and wild places. And guests can find a special conservation-focused merchandise shop in Out of the Wild at Rafiki’s Planet Watch.

Shopping Options:

The Outpost Shop -- Located outside the park entrance, this is the first shop in and the last shop out of the park, offering Disney’s Animal Kingdom T-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, and other souvenirs.

Garden Gate Gifts -- This shop features guest necessities and sundries, located just inside the park. Stroller and wheelchair rentals, plus film, cameras, hats, T-shirts and accessories.

Island Mercantile -- The park’s largest merchandise stop located in Discovery Island offers a one-stop shop for everything guests may need. Highlights include a giant wall of Disney characters outfitted in safari garb, Disney’s Animal Kingdom logo merchandise -- T-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, souvenirs -- plus candy, toys and more.

Wonders of the Wild -- This shopping mecca features upscale men’s and women’s apparel, jewelry and housewares in Discovery Island. You may spot a sleek new line of jungle-themed merchandise featuring stripes and spots with a Disney twist, including mugs, plates, candleholders, pillows, blankets, jewelry, slippers, scarves, pajamas and more. Also offered: a variety of figurines, bookends, clocks and snow globes with carvings replicating the intricate Tree of Life artistry, pewter figurines, authentic African art carvings and the inaugural limited-edition line featuring clocks, umbrellas, scarves, tote bags and collector plates depicting The Tree of Life.

Creature Comforts -- Just for kids, this open-air marketplace in Discovery Island is themed to animals with spots, stripes and colorful markings from leopards to ladybugs. Special Animal Kingdom mouse ears don a zebra stripe and DAK logo.

Beastly Bazaar -- An open-air shop in the “artists colony” Discovery Island features a brightly colored whimsical exterior. This location showcases surf and island wear, hats, accessories and souvenirs.

Chester and Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures -- A tacky and wacky roadside “garage” covered floor to ceiling with dinosaur doodads. This DinoLand U.S.A. shop celebrates prehistoric animals and focuses on the dinosaurs from the DINOSAUR thrill ride. Iguanodon, carnotaurus and styracosaurus anyone? A complete line themed to DinoLand U.S.A. featuring keychains, “bones,” figurines, mugs, straws, T-shirts and props from the attraction.

Mombasa Marketplace/Ziwani Traders -- African marketplace and trading company featuring artifacts you might find in the village of Harambe -- gourds, authentic mud cloth pillows, soapstone wood carvings, hand-painted gift boxes, plus Kilimanjaro Safari T-shirts, vests, shorts, mugs, hats and jewelry.

Out of the Wild -- Conservation-themed apparel, decorative gifts, bath care, books and soft cuddly animal toys located in Rafiki’s Planet Watch.
